Does anyone here flower with 1K hortilux lamps and then switched to 1K generic HPS?Did your yield seem to suffer?

IF?...the Hortilux failed, prematurely ...I would switch, and the evaluation would take a year.

Ive had shitty luck with cheapo bulbs. Hortilux is good but expensive. I prefer sunmaster and you can get them pretty cheap at htg.

Just recently I had a 400 W MH eye bulb 6500K fail to light every time it was struck.
It started where it needed to be struck twice before it would light.
It only had 1800 hours on it which is less then its half life.
When I did find another eye bulb its price went up from 69$ that I paid for that bulb to what I thought was unreasonable.
I found a cheap 400 W MH 6500K bulb for 21$ brand new on E-Bay.
Its been working flawlessly since being put into service 2.5 weeks ago.
I mean if the K rating is the same the plants should react the same, so I opine.

Switched from Hortilux about 6 years ago due to ignition problems with electronic ballasts. I've read that they have bulbs that work with electronic ballasts now. Don't know. I've had good luck with SunMaster, and others. Good luck. -granger

I've been using Sunmaster Yellow Blossom and Ushio Hi Lux Opti Reds for a while... Hard to really tell a difference between em... Been a long time since I ran a Hortilux, but that amazon deal I might give it a try

Im on the Ushio 1000W Opti Red bulbs. They are RED. Had one of my best harvests ever recently with these. Lots of other factors involved... but I'm very happy with them.

The Ushio is probably my go to.... they have a CRI level of 292 or somethin like that... and the comparable parameter for the Sunmaster is par watts which is 264 or something... My eyes don't see a difference, but I think the plants notice....

Hortilux is Garbage these days...they are no longer quality bulbs and 90% of then will burn out within a few months past the 1 year warranty

By cheap bulbs and replace them every round... all bulbs are made in China now..

I had 20 brand new Hortilux that all fell under this pattern of taking a shit ... my old school Hortilux were tanks... they could go forever and never burn out...the new ones are pure GARBAGE

Ushio are made in Germany.

Been looking at them for a good bit now, for that reason.

My current hortilux is performing great.

This will be the third and last flowering cycle using it.

Maybe time to give Ushio a try.

I switched from generic 1000 hps bulbs to hortilux eye. Could maybe tell a slight difference in trichome and resin production but almost a decrease in yield.

I will be doing way with hortilux and switch to ushio next time around they seem like better bulbs.

Hope this helps!

Did the bulbs last at least the full year?

I don't run them longer than that any way.

I've always bought them online, never paying more than $70.

I would buy a new one, i always have a back up of almost every thing, pumps, bulbs etc etc.
point is, i bet if you put the new one in next to the 4yrs old bulb you would see a big difference. you don't notice the bulb dimming with age unless it's next to a new one.
but I'll bet the new bulb smokes the 4yr old bulb
if not you have a back up and and I'll damn sure will be buying ushio
