hey all. i want a t5 really bad. i shopped at discount hydro and they ask $279 for the 8 bulb. now. i can get a 2 bulb at lowes for like $20. thatr means i can get the 8 bulbs for $80. is there a reason why i should spend the extra money on one from sunleaves? am i missing something?

You sure the 20 buck 2 bulb is T-5 fixture?

You can buy T-5 fixtures from industrial suppliers much cheaper than from places that sell grow supplies. They won't look as cool, but they are cheaper.

I decided I didn't need t-5 when all I was gonna do was veg under them. I used T-8 fixtures ,4 bulb 4 foot fixture for 49.00 I liked the diffuser for vegging. Worked like a champ. Vegged my current haze hybrids 5 weeks under them.

So I would check your local electrical supplier for T5 fixtures. Tell them you want a good bright shop light with a low profile for hobby work. or some other BS if you are paranoid.

hey pedro, thanks for stopping by. the t5(by my definition) is reffered to the bulb used in the fixture. the store i saw them at also carries the t8 fixture and bulbs. all of the flouresent lights were fixed to a display board and the t5s did seem to outshine the rest of the fixtures.

so, i guess it would be a safe bet to get these cheaper ones and squeeze em together to make an 8 bulb unit. there wouldnt be a need for a reflector because there is little or no space between the bulbs.

I believe you. It just seems like $20.00 is too cheap for a T-5 fixture that includes a ballast. HD and Lowes here doesn't carry any T-5 fixtures except the little reading lights.

A 2 bulb T5 fixture at Lowes for $20? I don't think so. I agree with Ty, you will be happy you went with a T5 fixture. I have a 4' 8 bulb sunleaves and 2 2' 4bulb sunleaves and I love them all.

i didnt believe it either. i went back this morning and made sure i had cleaned the shit out of my eyes. lowes(at least this one) does have t5 fixtures for 20 bucks. they are 4ft long and they dont include the bulbs. they dude says they are trying to get rid of the inventory so there will be room for the new stock. i know it sound too good to be true. that is why i recruited the advice of my fellow icmag teammates. i will buy the sunleaves if you guys feel i will be wasting my time with these fixtures. thanks for your input guys

Swampdank,

I'm putting my coat on as I'm typing this, i got to get my ass to Lowes. If those are actual T5 fixtures for $20...start buying. :rasta:
