Tip's & Tricks for ACE Sativa Plants indoors

High @ all,
i would like to make a dedicated tread with tip's & tricks specially for Sativa plants growing indoors. Here you should share all your knowledge about growing a Sativa successfully...:big grin:

i will start with my observations...:peacock:

1. Light schedule
I start with 12/12 the first 4 Weeks than next 4 weeks 11/13 and than until finish 10,5/13,5 and 10/14 last week. I try to reproduce the natural light schedule...

2. Big containers big Plants. I use always big soil containers (5gallon/20Liter or more). Now i use smart pots 5gallon.

3. Good Light intensity (600w). I use now 600watt 400v lumatec... gives some extra lumen... Sativa love light.

there is much more but that is for you to jump in and tell us your observations... whats about fertilizer, water pH, humidity, temperature day/night, pruning, topping, vertical, horizontal, stadium etc... plz jump in...

many thx to all who share there knowlede :tiphat:

natural light schedule.....? I have lived on or about the equator for years, the dawn and dusk happen in about 3 minutes or less, on average.
Best advice on growing sativas is

1: grow in a space with similar climate as there parents, for example Thailand or Mexico

2: or adapt the plant to your local growing climate, by breeding her out 2-3 generations, and expect some loss in quality each time

madmac what would be your opinion on container size if you went out doors for 7 months

@madmac...This is right on time should be receiving my ACE seeds within a weeks time, the closet to a sativa I've grown is green crack and blue dream, never a land race, so my mind is wide open for the knowledge that is about to come upon me.
Thx Madmac.

7 Month is a long time... i would take 50 liter or bigger. Because of the length you need good quality earth and maybe some pellets who store the water for longer time... If it is for ACE Sativa don't use too much fertilizer... They don't like too much N. I'm also surprised how little fertilizer they need...

I have a tread here about Malawi & GT indoor organic grow with lot of infos in there. If you have a question feel free to ask:tiphat:

well one important point is the temp indoors.
Not really sure how it is with ACE Seeds maybe Dubi can jump in... but all plants love colder nights... so my observation was also with indica plants that they like 8 - 10°C difference between Day/Night. My Day temp is maximal 27°C and my Night temp is 18°C. Some Sativa love low temp @ night... some down to 14°C... then they produce this nice coloring and the taste changes also... don't know if it affects also THC & CBD

Go down the nugbuckets main lining route. I vegged for at least 10 weeks, had them well under control and was rewarded with an epic yield. 300g from one Malawi.
Don't be afraid to twist , turn or generally manipulate, Ace's genetics are really strong and the plants will take it.
I intend to work my way through all of them, they all seem amazing.
Oh yes and patience of course :)

She was a lovely plant, a joy to grow and the most I have ever got from 1 plant.
Full credit to Ace, I gave her a long veg and pushed my luck a bit and was amply rewarded :)

So many posters, Dubi included iirc, state that the clones flower a couple of weeks faster than seed plants that I am going to grow my new ACE strains outdoors as mothers, to maturity, then take cuttings to select for indoors.

I think that Metal Halides make many plants stretch less, so will use 1hps and 1 mh to flower them.

As they stretch, I will flower 8" clones, trained totally horizontally in the first week, to minimise overall height and maximise yield.

Canna Boost improves taste and yield, but also shortens flowering time too, so I plan to experiment with that.

So, this autumn, Malawi x Panama, Panamá x Malawi, Zamaldelica and Kali China Panama should be coming along.

Malawi sure is a special plant. My first attempt at a micro malawi turned out to be a male plant, but the structure of the plant was excellent. Now my new (yet unsexed) micro malawi is about a month old working on its 6th set of nodes. Hasn't even started branching, yet there are already visible large resin glands on the fan leaves. Sure hope its a lady and keeps pumping resin!

...and I've not had any issues with the malawi being uncontrollable in a micro setting. I was a little worried when I started the project. So far, so good. Just keepin the roots constricted and keeping the nitrogen levels low.

Got a zamal hashplant seedling too. Can't wait til she's old enough to chop some cuttings off of to flower out!

madmac thanks for getting back with me on container size. I am using 30 gallon bags with worm castings and about 1 tsp per gallon of bone meal, green sand and kelp as my base. I skipped on the blood meal because of high N. all my gear is from ace. I don't grow anything but ace's gear

THANKS AGAIN

I use a 12' x 14'w x 9'h room. 2 windows open and 1 fan. I started the plants 13 on 11 off. vegged to 18" to 2' average. I use 7 gallon bags on hybrids and 10 gallon plus on sativa's. It snows here by end of October. Lights I use 3 600 watt HPS and 4 flood lamp style LED's for added spectrum. Room temps are 85 degrees daytime and down to 60's at night. Entire grow is very healthy. I only grow in soil and use fish emulsions for fertilizes.(Alaskan Brand) I dilute to less than advertised and use on every other watering. I water every 3 days. I try to water in evenings. (cool roots, even water saturation of soil for morning take up of nutrients. There is other ways certainly. This is what I do for sativa's and it has worked well. I'm running 40 plants in this space. If that helps answer any questions on plant spacing. I was expecting to get more than 2 males to open up the spacing a little more during flowering in later stages. Peace

did anyone try SOG with ace sativas ? Malawi / Zamaldelica / GT ...
it would be interesting to read notes on density, yields, flowering time etc

someday everyone comes to sog (c);)

Great thread! keep um coming! i dont know what it is, but long flowering sativas keep calling me...

if it is a long flower sativa it is better to start from clone because she will finish 2-3 weeks earlier.
The last 6 weeks it is better to feed PK and low N to get big buds and to finish faster.
Start the bloom phase with 12/12 and end with 10.5/13.5 or start direct with 11/13 until fin.
Some Sativa need a longer Veg. time... but with most clones you can start direct with 12/12.
A Vaporizer is a good tool to quickly test samples... just dry for 5 -14 Days and you are ready... taste and power are much better as with a joint...
Lowering the humidity the last 4 - 6 Weeks below 50% is good for producing more trichomes.
more to come...

I have seen 9x9 planting in a SoG, 11cm x 11cm per plant, 81 ppm, not the "usual" 15x15cm (49 ppsm) this was done with a Sativa, with supplementary lighting* they regularly hit over 1kg per meter... In a tiny low ceiling Victoria terraced loft, ultra low level home brewed NFT system.

*So a 600 plus fluorescent tubes by the side to fill out the popcorn

I am planning on building one in a couple of months for my od vegged ACE Sativas but will start in coco so I can be more flexible with moving plants around while I learn what they like to do. I also have a suspicion that NFT (and all active hydro systems) can make plants bolt more than coco, we will see.....

... If you think it is harvest time...go for 2-3 weeks more... i know it's not easy ... it takes longer until first bud trichomes go amber ;-)

MadMac Ive heard this of 11/13 cycle. I was wondering what it does differently? Do flowers finish faster, yield more, or foxtail less with this light schedule? Just wanna know the reason... Also what type of ill effect would it have on indicas, if I wanted to have a few in the same room?
