I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with me? I have had some Tikal genetics for a couple years now. I have never planted any yet. I'll have at least one next season. I really wanted to run the Tikal x Honduras this year. If I had it in a feminized format I'm sure it would be growing now. I have three regular strains going now. I was afraid to have any more and miss a male flower. I am truly missing out on some great genetics. Peace

Hey dubi,

Is tikal a good strain for a complete newbie grower? Ill be growing indoors in about a 2ftx2ftx5ft closet and I would like a sativa that has clear, happy, expansive effects that have slight relaxation as well. It seems like tikal is what im looking for, I just dont know how stabilized the line is, will there be hermi issues i have to look out for or pheno hunt? Just curious. It seems like tikal is what im looking for I was just wondering its suitability for a complete newb. Appreciate your help

I've got 2 Tikal fems going now. They've been in fox forest ocean forest soil since they sprouted. My tent is 2'x3' with my DIY screw-in LED lights, 159.5 watts, 3 G smartpots, water only so far.

I'm not a new grower but my current situation requires that I keep it super simple. My Tikals (and my Kali China fem) are all doing great. So yeah, I highly recommend growing them. I'm taking dubi's word (and many others) that it's a great all-around smoke like you and I are both looking for. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Tikals are back left and back center. KC is on the right. (Satori front left, Satori male front center has been culled)

nice man.

yeah tikal is in a way the reason im considering growing. im from the northeast and my experience is with indica dominant indoor hybrids. everything i smoked that was "sativa" was really still a hybrid and i always had bad reactions. im a jumpy dude and some of them gave me anxiety and a strange racing heart feeling while having additional indica body effects. needless to stay the more indica the better was my mantra

then one day smoked some bush weed in belize and aladins whole new world was playing in the background lol. then more recently i got ahold of some sativa type bud that had me invigorated in a relaxed way that beat out even pharmaceutical drugs as far as how well adjusted and productive it left me. even my girlfriend whos not a smoker and hates my zombie couchlock weed was remarking on how good it was. to be fair it made me pretty horny in the first 30 mins of consumption

it was a pleasant 30 min stimulating but kinda relaxed rush if thats possible followed by another hour and a half of relaxed activation/socialization, no introspection, no anxiety, all expansive outwardly focused appreciative goodness. no body load, only a heaviness behind the eyes and a "present" body awareness that aparently led to better posture and smoother walking. so thats kinda what im looking for. and tikal seems the closest of any bud advertised. so if its that any easy to grow then im in the money lol

Hi newbert,

Tikal has been bred and refined for many generations since 2004. Current Tikal generations/versions are very easy to grow indoors, with very low or inexistent hermie tendencies, very manageable in size and with a moderate flowering time for a sativa dominant strain.

I think she fits very well with the type of sativa effects you are looking for, all the growers that try Tikal enjoy her a lot! :)

Really? :chin: that looks nothing like Tikal I grew, at any stage. Tikal had dense pink buds fully ripe by 11 weeks from seed. Your plant looks like a 17 weeker at less than 10 weeks. Looks more like a panama haze or a p haze too. Very strange

I agree, but I never ran the fems... My two were squat and chunky, very fruity, grapefruit, ripe yellow fruit like peach and some berry and done at 11weeks like spaventa's. I'd guess you've got a super Guat pheno, justabluez. You've had some long runners recently;)

This was the latest fem Tikal release. buds are stringy like weed green beans. She is still going..Buds are a bunch of stringy buds. Smells like peaches and cream...I tried to match some strains that would flower around the same time, but this go round, 18 weeks seems to be trending with my ladies.

well I'm grateful for the heads up!! I have a pack of this release but 19 weeks? I didn't take Purple haze or panama haze that long! i went 16 and think i over did them. I have to say, the smoke report will need to be good!

She has been chopped at couple days past 18 weeks. I think its the haze/guatemala pheno. Smells like peaches. Buds are airy and stringy like a long flowering haze. Will do a smoke report when she dries up a bit.

yep, looks like a leafy haze (wouldn't know if one bit me), and peaches are right on, mine were peach sherbet. Very interested to hear the smoke report when she's ready;)

I've got a couple current fem Tikals going right now, too. Both have been heavily trained to fit in my tent. Flipped to 12/12 on 08/01 so they're just under 8 weeks.

Tikal 1 has been slower to develop from day 1. Lots of branching and stretching. Lots of small buds popping up.

Tikal 2 is growing faster and fuller with much larger buds. She's sweeter, too, but I'm battling a cold right now and my nose isn't functioning properly so I can't really describe either one very well.

Justabluez,

Your Tikal is completely different than mine from regular seeds. Those long racemes remind me of my golden tigers. What light schedule do you follow?

Tikal (fem) Smoke report..(couple day old...no cure)
========================================
The bud is very airy, like a string of blackberries. Taste like strawberry tart in the vape. Very clean clear alert perky smiley happy kind of buzz in the vape. This would go well with the morning coffee for a wake and bake. Not heavy at all. Very functional HI. So far so good! I think it will be much better in a few months....The smell is fruity sweet. I feel uplifted!!

I'm sold on the Strawberry peach pheno. Was looking for a last addition to my list, Tikal looks like a great option.
