Dude thats the ONLY reason i use my pots. i have clay and rock hard granite native and still never have rot. thats the drying out easily/drain easy catch 22 with em.

days off? Lol, not for me. Its always over 100 out here, and usually more like 110-115. I have 200 gallon smarts in my greenhouse and they drain well. Honestly the only reason I'm having this problem is because I have been hammering them with 40-60 gallons daily. Even after losing a couple, I'm still at half of my acceptable 5% plant loss.

Its too hot where I'm at for smarts to perform well outside a greenhouse. Next year either mounds or 10x10 boxes, either way drainage will be my focus. Currently each plant sits in a 1,000 gallons of dirt or more, and I cant imagine growing in any less.

More Sun, More water, more soil = Massive Plants IMHO

In afghanistan i saw big plants in shit soil and only watered twice per week. not like us here but still big. And i cant afford to lose a single plant. even plant a few hidden ones as insurance.

If you design a system where plants max out at 8lbs, how are you ever going to achieve that crazy 12,15, or 20lb mark? And considering how much extra size all the other plants stacked on, I think I'll end up with way more in the end. Way more! A couple bad plants yea, but everything else is twice as big this year.

Even if I did sustain a small loss, I've gained the knowledge I need to prevent similar losses next year. And more importantly, I've gained the knowledge needed to grow massive plants. Chalk it up to different grow styles and comfort levels. Lots of ways to skin this cat.

Thanks. Suffering a bad injury in the military is really how I wound up finding medicinal cannabis and growing in the first place so it paid off! I helped turn a few former high strung marines i served with into laid back stoners haha. We'll have to game plan and bounce wooden box ideas off eachother for next year, thats gonna be my route as well.

Its more mild than where your at. Max temps usually 105 and not for long. More like high steady 90-98
most summer. Season is a little shorter usually also, rain comes hard mid september. Part of the reason i never went in ground or mounds is cause i would have soooo much standing water where my plants are at, like a damn rice paddy come september. If i build boxes theyll be atleast 2 feet tall.

Horrible! I have good friends in Sonoma who have similar issues. I'm vetting out a AK-47 cut right now. All around outstanding so far, and it looks to be a mid september finisher.

your shit is unreal Epicorchard, today was 88 degrees where im located and in my greenhouse was pushing 100. Do you have a thermometer in your g.h.? i find its a good 12-15 degrees hotter then outside but mine is a solexx g.h with pannels constantly having 2 fans pushing air out and run a dehumidifier at night. If i can ever figure out how to upload photos id like to post my outdoor. i have 4 in 15 gallon pots in ground that should push at least a pound+, knock on wood. people say bigger container means bigger plants? Im on the skirts of Sonoma County, what do you think about the bigger pot/container bigger plant? I know its about root mass and what not

I'd say 200 gallon pot is the smallest pot worth planting in. I prefer around 1000 gal of soil.

My gh has 6 yr solarbright plus roll up sides, double barn doors, and a full length ridge vent. Its usually a few degrees cooler in there. I do not run any fans or dehumidifiers.

Man you guys got me scared about the twister now. I mean the new twister is supposed to be better then the t2. I guess I could always go to nevada city and put together a crew from the health food store all the trimmigrants hang outside there. And do you have to use oil when trimming? The mulch from the twister is good for wax right? Also I figure no matter what all I can get for o/d unit is 13. So -150 for trimmer that leaves 1150. Seems like keeping my extra 150 will pay for the twister pretty quick since then end price for the unit stays the same no matter how it's trimmed at least for me

Dont do it dawg. Hand trim. This is coming from a dude that has hand trimmed hundreds of lbs himself and has no love for it anymore but will not sacrifice quality. Its like would you rather buyers be like "good lookin out bro, thanks" or "ummmm.....i guess that will...uhhh...do..." I personally love the look on ppls faces when they see my goods.

My step dad was unhappy with the dry trimmer still had to have trimmers clean it up and they charged him 200 per elbow. Yea he got raped i told him after it comes out of a dry trimmer it's hourly wage for trimmers. But hey I'm not stuck on the twister if there's better ways there's better ways I'm here to live and learn from the best. I'm running really good strains the thought of them being turned into mids does sound scary back to the drawing boards and a trip to nevada city possibly

I'd skip the twister. I used one my biggest year and regretted it and it gathered dust for a few years until I was able to sell it to some cats from the coast
