Sproutco - How do I apply "less than stated on bottle" , if the bottle says to go for thorough coverage as you suggest....
Sorry. Make the concentration of the soap weak. For example, my 50% concentrate safer soap suggests 2.5 ounces per gallon...use only 1.5 to 2 ounces. Use a large volume of spray that coats all surfaces.

Caljim, Sproutco Verite. Thanks!
Update - I checked yesterday, and still a couple thrips are present. I'll reapply the safer soap towards the end of the week and see if the strips are doing anything.
If this doesn't do it, I'm spraying anything that enters the flower room with pyrethrins, that should clean them one by one...I hate pests, they break my heart, hahaha

try diatomaceaos earth. its readily available, and the most effective thing for the little buggers! coat leaves and pat a good coating on the soil after watering. the dusting will kill them on the leaves and the coating1/2" on soil breaks the life cycle in the soil. when they crawl out, they die immediately. should be pest free within a week!

How do you get it underneath the leaves where mites and thrips love to hang out?

believe it or not, some gets on the bottoms, but not necessary, first it cut off there feeding grounds... the tops of the leaves, two they cannot reproduce and die out since you coat the soil where they lay there eggs, ands the juvies come out!

Hiya, just to say that of the products I have tried, Biobizz "Buzz Off" appears to have been the most effective, with the plus side that it is organic, and it has a spicy minty kind of smell

spraying the soil, as well as leaves etc. is very important - winged thrips appear to hang out in the soil a lot

larvae can be found under pots too

cheers,

Namkha

Neem Oil with dish soap. Do it once every 4 days for 1 to 2 weeks. pure organics. you can do it in flowering too...

All you can do is do your best. Hit them hard and keep a preventative maintenance program running from now on. The pyrethrin verite mentioned would be my alternative. Ever since I bought a bottle of concentrate and sat it out there, I haven't had any problems, I'll say I scared them but I know its just the luck of the draw. Sometimes we get pest and sometimes we get an infestation. Good luck my man and I'm glad to hear that things are getting better.

Pest problems are no fun! I have heard of a simple mixture of tobacco juice (2 strong cigs soaked in water for a night, then the liquid strained out, boiled), crushed red pepper (hottest you can find), and throw some Neem oil into the mix. You should spray this all over the plants - make sure you get the undersides for sure - and this has a chance of knocking out any pests. It also won't hurt the plant, but I'd try not to get any into your root medium, whatever it is. Sorry if this has been said, I just wanted to throw you my 2 cents but not have to read through everyone's posts. I hope this helps!

I am battling a thrip problem as well, Flamengo. I just got through bug bombing my grow room. I used this stuff

I am also using Gnatrol.

Here is the recommendation that Stitch gives....

One good way to repel thrips for those growing outside is to use garlic, this is a good way to keep them away before you get them. The color yellow attracts the thrips and should be advised not to have this color around your grow.. If you already have them using neem oil, and or lady bugs can get rid of them. If the infestation is bad then you need to use biological solution like, pyrethrin-like insecticides.
Other Products include:
Chemicals
Hot Pepper Wax,Safer Yard & Garden Insecticide (which can be used right to the day of harvest),GNATROL( used in hydro in the water as well as soil),Doc's Neem Pest Soap,Safer Sticky Stakes,TR-11000 Pyrethrum.

Hope this helps, and I will keep you updated on my battle with the little shits

Thrips?

Thrips?

I have a patient who has experiencing some trouble and im curious what you all think.

Everything is in dwc buckets. fed chem by gh 3part.. Looks real healthy, however he is getting some pests. I cannot identify them so maybe someone else can.

They are yellow // white in color. Somewhat hard shelled, and look like minituare snails (maybe early larva of thripes?). I killed a couple and it seems their are attached to the stems (not on leafs) leeching nutrients from it..

Can anyone identify these pests, and give some insight on how to deal w. them?

I think they could be thrips in early larva stages. There are only a few, maybe 2-3 a plant.. I wasnt sure what to do, so I turned off all the fans, raised th co2 level to 3500+ PPM, gave it 10 min to settle, turned the lights off (the plants are vegging, 24/0) and dropped the temp to 66. in hopes that if the plants lock up and are too cold to distribute nutes, maybe thrips will die? just my wishful thinking?

any ways to kill these buggers without pesticides or predators? and if not what would be the most organic pesticide on the market, causing the least amount of damage to the plants.

Thank You.

just a update..

just a update..

Well I went over to check up on the plants and there were a few still hanging around.. seem to be more centered at the base of the stalk, by the way growing medium is the growdan rockwool minicubes....so i just acted arnold and terminated as many as possible with my fingers. I looked the crop over pretty good couldnt see any...but i know there are still some that are lurking...

Any insight on how to kill these fuckers before they suck the life out of my plants (as well as me..)

Your information is appreciated..
