Thrip Control And the use of Spinosad during Flowering

Hello,

I have read the sticky on thrips at the top of this forum and read that Spinosad is a great way to treat this problem. My question for the forum is this: is it safe to use during flowering? I am beginning the 4th week of flowering today and plan to harvest in another 4 or 5 weeks. The product that I was specifically going to use is this: Green Light Spinosad Spray

Any feedback on this product would be great!

Thanks,

Matt

I don't know anything about the Spinosad,But you should check out Safer Brand Fruit and Vegetable insecticide. Can be used through harvest..!
Find it at O.S.H.

No personal experience with the Green Light product......Just got a pint of Monterey Garden Insect Spray Concentrate last week. I'm 16 days away from chopping, and BAM! thrips are gone!

With the concentrate, you just add 4 tablespoons per gallon of water. Make sure you spray well under your fan leaves.

I like to run a perpetual garden of Old Skool NL, and my girls of 3 weeks of flowering look beautiful with no silver patches on the fans.

I've used a few other techniques to rid my garden of thrips with no success, spinosad is the most effective, non-evasive product.

Good Luck,
BB

no pest strips didn't do a thing for mites or thripes in my garden...

Spinosad is safe to use up until around 14 days till harvest.

The degradation of spinosad in the environment occurs through a combination of routes, primarily photodegradation and microbial degradation to its natural components of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. The half-life of spinosad degraded by soil photolysis is 9-10 days. It is less than 1 day for aqueous photolysis and leaf surface photolysis results in a half-life of 1.6 to 16 days.

You have to water the medium also to get the buggers in the soil. Try 2-3 tbs per gal for soil drench works great.
