white·out
ˈ(h)wītˌout/
noun: white-out; plural noun: white-outs; noun: whiteout; plural noun: whiteouts

1. a blizzard, esp. in polar regions, that reduces visibilities to near zero.

And here's Merriam-Websters definition:

: a surface weather condition in a snow-covered area (as a polar region) in which no object casts a shadow, the horizon cannot be seen, and only dark objects are discernible; also : a blizzard that severely reduces visibility.

you weren't there unless you were the jackoff coming at me in my lane, you have completely ignored the fact (AGAIN) that I made clear I could see the idiot in my lane well in advance. You're on an agenda that I ain't buying into.

for the life o' me I don't know why you insist on putting words in my mouth, I described a typical light snow storm to you. I've been living in northern MN for over 25 years now, we have 5 month winters up here, I know a thing or two about driving in the snow that amateurs & posers will never know or understand.......

and I HAVE driven in whiteouts, usually @ 20-30mph which is all you can do in those conditions.

Those were your words...not mine. I'm not putting words in your mouth.

I like the dictionary references...lol... What scholars and working men consider.... are usually two different things.

Nothing personal...anyone without the common sense to slow down when the lines are obscured is an asshole.

You mentioned riding the rumble strips...if the vehicle coming in the other direction was another three feet over wouldn't have made a tinker fuck would it?

If you would have been driving 30.... (because you couldn't...and clearly the other guy couldn't see the painted lines) you could have easily ditched it. ... Sure beats the alternative.

You won't have to worry about me visiting...I haven't been to the border since November 11th 2001. No plans on returning.

I'll gladly bug out of this thread. Glad you n' the others are safe. :tiphat:

I am glad to hear everyones alright! When things like this happen, am I the only one that has an overwhelming urge to turn around, find the douche driver and beat his face against his steering wheel? The only thing that usually stops me is common sense reminding me that chasing them down would only increase the danger of me and everyone else on the road. Fucking assholes, how do they get the lisences to start? Stay safe everyone winter has just began!

I doubt there is anyone who hasn't made a mistake while driving. If we're lucky: no harm no foul. If not ...

I try to remind myself of that when I see somebody doing something stupid. That said, holding a cell phone to your ear or not signalling aren't mistakes - pure asshole. Driving too fast for prevailing conditions can be a mistake but shouldn't be for an experienced driver. If you can't control the vehicle's momentum, you're driving too fast.

glad to hear you made it s4l

I hope that you can calm down and let this one go, the shock that is

yeah mistakes happen, gotta let it go

I too sometimes get angry at drivers

people who are in the left lane (passing) going under the speed limit and who don't move over when your coming

I will be honest with you guys, these people I -used to- pass on the right hand side after a while, and brake in their face, and show them the right lane

I don't do that stuff anymore since it's clearly a bad idea...

people don't know about the rules of driving still...

one time I was driving during winter time, I was with a big friend of mine, big bulky muscle guy

we we're coming to a green light, and turning right, wasn't going fast

as I turned right, I started sliding, and we ended up in the other side of the line, face to face with the driver on the other side

just a couple inches away

thank god the light was red for them, I simply put it in reverse, checked mirrors, and drove away

my friend, the bad ass, I think got a bit of a fright, he looked at me and said that I seemed to pull that off with such calm

gotta drive safe... especially in the winter time...

record cold temperatures here too

anyhow S4L

glad your still here to tell another story

Count me as one who actually did stop, turn around, and chase the guy. I didn't bash his face into the steering wheel though.

At the time, I was a young fellow, my family had gone on some vacation that I chose not to go on, and I had the use of the family car while they were gone. Me and a friend were out driving on a curvy road in the woods, and going around a slow bend in the road this mercedes benz driving the opposite way floated over into my lane and side swiped my parents car.

First, I got really pissed, next...I realized that my parents would blame my ass for the damage to the car when they returned from vacation, so I stopped and did a U'ey, and went after the bastard. I caught up to him pretty quickly and followed him until he got to the middle of town and hit the one and only red light in town.

At the red light, I was right behind him, I got out and knocked on his window. He was an old guy about 75 or so and had his wife with him. He was rich. May have been drunk. And, he ended up paying the bill for the body work on the car. Best part, I didn't end up taking the blame from my folks...mission accomplished!

im just happy you are well
fuck the haters

ez

I hear ya Ez bro, they just don't understand the conditions I've driven in for 25 years or they have a completely different level of confidence for winter driving and are projecting their fears & lack of abilities onto me.

it was a NOTHING of a storm & the only dangerous thing happening that night was a single errant driver (the schmuck in my lane).

My technique:

Gently turn your wheel and miss them by inches while retaining a steely-eyed and battle-hardened expression.

Then after crack open a baby deer and drink it's soul.

Now you know why some people carry pistols in their vehicle! For asshats! Once, I was going out West of Denver on I70 and it was snowy. A diesel was in my lane slowly pulling up a big hill. A little car was trying to hem me in and scrape me off on the diesel so I grabbed a lower gear and wound it up and slid in his lane at about 90 with the bastard still trying to give me shit. He was honking and flipping me off and doing his lights so I got around the truck, got back in the right land, and when the asshole clown came up beside me all cussing and shit, I just pointed my .45 up at the roof so he would know I was armed. Boy, talk about someone getting a change in attitude, that chickenshit backed way off and got in way behind me and just sort of slithered off the next exit. I hated to do it but I think it was way better than having to run the bastard into the oncoming traffic or not being able to stop and crashing into the diesel trailer and messing up my new truck. I feel like if someone threatens my life with a vehicle, it is my right to defend myself. Some of those big trucks carry a few bricks for assholes. So, it pays to be careful and not be offending drives because you never know who they are...
