Nice thread,
I designed this system a few back at OG and hope it helps.
I realize an AC looks like the air goes thru it, but it's just the heat that flows thru. (inside/outside)
This design was for under house operation and the final solution was to divide the under house into 2 areas using celotex (modern foam/foil version) and foil tape. This "box"/Dual Plenum was made from celotex and foil tape.
The term here is plenum (I have learned to leave the T out).
A Plenum is an air area that serves as a kinda resevour of cool air.
The darker blue area is for an adjustable external/internal air intake to pickup fresh co2 and also recycle the cool plenum air .
Also remember when you pull air you must feed it an intake , you can't just pull a vacuum and expect it to work. That is why the exhaust ducts from the room feed the warm plenum.
