Thinking of 'Crotching' Your Stash Through Sky Harbor in Phoenix??

The 'machines' referenced in this article have already been used on a trial basis to a degree in Fla..

Early complaints had to do with privacy, and the thought that someone behind a screen could be viewing others' nudity in 'real time,' as part of a government job.

They claim to have fixed that issue to some degree.

What do you think??

Phoenix Airport to Test X-Ray Screening

Updated 7:02 AM ET December 1, 2006

PHOENIX (AP) - Sky Harbor International Airport here will test a new federal screening system that takes X-rays of passenger's bodies to detect concealed explosives and other weapons.

The technology, called backscatter, has been around for several years but has not been widely used in the U.S. as an anti-terrorism tool because of privacy concerns.

The Transportation Security Administration said it has found a way to refine the machine's images so that the normally graphic pictures can be blurred in certain areas while still being effective in detecting bombs and other threats.

The agency is expected to provide more information about the technology later this month but said one machine will be up and running at Sky Harbor's Terminal 4 by Christmas.

The security agency's Web site indicates that the technology will be used initially as a secondary screening measure, meaning that only those passengers who first fail the standard screening process will be directed to the X-ray area.

Even then, passengers will have the option of choosing the backscatter or a traditional pat-down search.

A handful of other U.S. airports will have the X-rays machines in place by early 2007 as part of a nationwide pilot program, TSA officials said.

The technology already is being used in prisons and by drug enforcement agents, and has been tested at London's Heathrow Airport.

The security agency says the machines will be effective in helping detect plastic or liquid explosives and other non-metallic weapons that can be missed by standard metal detectors.

Some say the high-resolution images _ which clearly depict the outline of the passenger's body, plus anything attached to it, such as jewelry _ are too invasive.

But the TSA said the X-rays will be set up so that the image can be viewed only by a security officer in a remote location. Other passengers, and even the agent at the checkpoint, will not have access to the picture.

In addition, the system will be configured so that the X-ray will be deleted as soon as the individual steps away from the machine. It will not be stored or available for printing or transmitting, agency spokesman Nico Melendez said.

Fuck that. Next thing you know they'll have a pneumatic metal finger, used for probing...well you know what. All the more reason to live out my fantasy and buy a fucking schooner. Last I checked I don't have to put up with that bullshit if I decide to sail myself to said destination.

I wont be going through one. I'm not birthing an irradiated poo next time i'm in the toilet and i sure as hell aint allowing myself to be filmed, they will all gather round the machine on their lunch breaks too look for the smallest schlong or the biggest boobies! I know i would! :)

I would love to see someone walk through one with a 3 foot prosthetic penis though! Or boobies that hang down their trousers to their knees, i bet that would get you some attention!

I don't like the fact that someone is able to view my private areas. However, in this day and age, I don't mind eigther. The way I see it, is if you want to board a plane, you will have to put up with it. There is no reason 300 innocent people should die because some bleeding heart pussy is worried about his or her "privacy". If you want privacy, take the bus or drive yourself. I'm not flaming here, but I do get upset when people think that they are above being screened to get on an airplane.

I am all for just about any type of screening when flying , sorry. I get pulled out of line and searched just about every time i fly and it dont bother me in the least. Flying is not a right, it is a privelage. In order to take part in that privelage you need to abide by what they say. If they want everyone to strip and bend over and spread em before the board a plane, thats fine with me. As long as i make it from point A to point B without being blown up or flown into a building i think its worth it.

I dont think that we have the right to demand privacy when boarding a commercial plane where your actions coulod effect the lives of a few hundred people at 30,000 feet in the air.

As far as people seeing me nude in a screening? Big deal , when i was born everyone say me naked and i didnt seem to mind much. I dont care who see's me nude. Im not that shy or bashful . If looking at my dick makes my flight safer I'll pull it out before i get in line.

And what about those americans ...wanting to leave the country ...oh wait you diont even have passports do you : )

I have never been thoroughly searched nor would I want an X-ray to board a plane ...but I understand that if I was on a plane I'd want to feel like someone tried to make sure there isnt a bomb on there

as far as privacy ..... you had none anyway ...what's a cavity search got to do with invading your privacy ...... and suddenly all this fuss about an X-ray ....Jesus

Peace :joint:

Do you think that this is really all about in-air security re. terrorism??

What other reason do they have?
If they were just out to bust drugs they would stay with the drug sniffing dogs that they have already been using for years. :chin:

^^^Dogs are far from a guaranteed tool when it comes to detection. Been there, done that..

When's the last time you heard a cop say, "No thanks. I really don't want any more breadth in my authority to shake persons down." ?

Similarly speaking, the USA PATRIOT Act has been used on -way more- than terror cases. Same: same in terms of the argument.

They enforce their set of biased priorities with everything that they are allowed to get away with. And now they're apparently able to get away with x-rays. What's next? And where will the areas of use be expanded to? Arenas for sports events? Concerts? Perhaps not now, but down the road?? Power grows big when left unchecked. That's a historical fact.

Living free has some serious risks. Some are too timid for them.

Power is more addictive than smack.

Yes, sir. I agree with you 100% on that. I just don't see what harm is caused by this "x-ray". What is the govt. going to do with that information? Maybe compile a statistical record of penis sizes?

conditioning. we become so used to accepting that we need to be scrutinised to keep others safe, that we accept it in any given situation.

Moose, nowdays, the Constitution means only what they say it means. They have gotten so far away from the original intent that our freedoms are in dire peril. If we look at the power that the Feds have seized from the States and the people since the Civil war, it is truly frightning. The feds seem to believe the State legislators are little R,O,T,C. wannabees and they are the true soldiers of democracy. The federal government has assumed power over the inhabitants of every state, something that used to be the province of the state itself. They realize that we, as a people, are too apathetic and busy with our own lives to check the power of the federal Gov't. We don't vote because we think that it does not matter and we don't write our legislators because we believe that they don't care what we think(and we are right.) If we,as Americans, don't start standing up for out rights soon, we will have none. Most of what is being done, is done in the name of the War on terror, and the War on drugs. The government is too fucking stupid to realize that we lost both. The terrorists on 9/11 wanted to disrupt American society. The destruction of the Twin towers did not disrupt society nearly as much as the knee-jerk reaction of our government and the subsequent loss of our freedoms. The terrorists did not do this to us, our own government did! I don't mind the anal probing at the airport, I have had a great deal of that from my doctor. Old men with bad prostates get used to having fingers up their ass. I just hope that the airport screeners have no warts on their fingers and wash their hands inbetween. Who knows, we may all get to like it.

Your are exactly right! Most people are just to stupid to realize.
The " what are you worried about if you dont have a bomb?" I hate thatI
I got weed! Thats what I m worried about! If they let me get everyone HIGH
on the plane (except the pilot), They woulndt have to worry about a bomb!

Let um find the bombs without finding my sack, either of them!

what if they wanted to screen your child? would the people defending this machine be willing to have there children seen naked by god only knows who? and wouldn't the person looking at the screen be guilty of child porn?

also its not the governments right or anyone elses to see anyone naked! way overstepping their boundrys.
and i also heard that it would be kepted on file long after it is done. so who knows how many people will look at each one. and you know the good looking females will be asked the most to do this.

sick and wrong on so many levels. when will they stop and when will people stop accepting this bullshit?
