Thinking about buying a new Ford?

If you are thinking about a new Ford,a couple of the nations biggest insurance companies are seeing to it that you also get a "Spy" free of charge. Not really free...but "included" whether you like it or not.

Allstate and Nationwide just announced they’ve “partnered” with Ford to pre-wire most 2020 (and likely all 2021) model Ford and Lincoln vehicles with the embedded tech to “participate” in what is styled the Milewise program, which uses the vehicle’s in-car WiFi to transmit to the mafia data about your driving habits.

Well, your next new car may come standard with the driver monitor already plugged in. Embedded, actually – which means you can’t remove it. Or say no thanks to it. If you buy the car, you buy the embedded narc.

That "snapshot" thing progressive insurance has takes data via the OBD2 bus.

I didn't want to buy a new PU until I found the chebby LD ext cab work truck. Man this thing is perfect and just like the 2001 it replaces. No on-star listening in, no GPS so they can't see how fast I am going down a street and send the cops an email that I was speeding. 4WD lever on the floor, dog proof seat material, vinyl floors. Perfect.

I looked at the Ford equivalent earlier that day and it was a POS.

I've got a 2005 Anniversary T-Bird with only 25k on the clock and it's a sweet ride, top up or down :tiphat:

haven't pretty much all cars since around 2010 or so had this fucking spyware in them - i think it's called OnStar in the US?

i will never own a car that has a wireless data connection to the outside. it's none of the insurance company's business how loud i listen to music or how much i talk with my passengers or a million other telemetry data points that can be extracted.

With Ford's stock prices plummeting, I imagine prices will decrease. Could be good for consumer, except most parts are made in China.

my buddy bought 2 fords the first 120 and tranny went so traded it in for a brand new f150. everytime it was put into 4X4 he had to take it in to get service.. 70 grand truck . 7-8 trips just for that not to mention leaking sunroof that squeeked back window shattered out of no were its a known issue. they are toys for people who like flashy things but are garbage. tehre is a reason they can knock so much off them and they are worthless in 3 years.

get a tundra or tacoma, tundra has transmission of a 3/4 tonne truck push 170miles with only oil changes no fancy BS just a truck that works that you dont have to waste time taking it in like chevy or ford or esp dodge.

IMO, "arrest me" red convertables should have a tan interior. Fastest street cars are those damn fox body rustangs. I kinda turned into a Mopar man myself after a buddy died and I bot his 68 fastback Barracuda drag car. I got a tag for it, did a burnout on my street, and was hooked. Got a 71 Dodge Demon now, tagged and insured.

It's the green one:

Did you happen to get the Demon off Ebay?

As a ford employee of over 20 years I can honestly say very few parts are made in china.

Alot of made in Mexico and Honduras on the parts lately .

Sadly can't see the Canadian automotive manufacturing industry lasting much more than 10 or 15 years .

Windsors Chrysler minivan plant is losing a shift in the next few months . Analysts saying approx 10k people will be out of work . Chrysler , supplier feeder plants ,logistics companies ect.

I'm sure there will be a way to deactivate the spy feature hopefully this wont void warranties as well.

I never knew where all the trucks were sold until I took a ride across the u.s. . The dakotas and Montana every truck was Ford . You would see the odd Chevy driving or Chrysler broken down on the side of the highway.

Gotta go to work
