Well worth the money to buy the complete series on DVD :good:
and it's not even that much $$, down here in OZ you can get the first 3 or 4 seasons for $20 each season, I think Season 5 is $30 :D
Great story-lines and even better characters/actors that really made the show worth watching again and again :tiphat:
:smoke out:

got to see season 5 from the inside ... amazing to watch the process ... normal comment when one of the main actors flubbed his lines "fuck me" "fuck me" (cut!).

just finished it again, still nothing coming close to it. Did the writer ever say what a hypothetical additional season would cover?

Watching Gomorrah and better call saul to wean me down.

I enjoyed it way more after it started to follow the children.

Bodie is prolly my favorite character followed closely by Bubbles and Omar.

Now it's all about the "Money and violence"

Watch season 2 and you will stuck binge watching just like "the wire"

hey shiskaboy,,,,
loved the wire although the season set mainly around corruption at the docks and there unions was a tad slow but apart from that it was great,,,,my fave characters were " omar" and "marlo" plus that vicious and ruthless little lesbian banger and not forgetting "stringer bell",,met idris a few years back,,,seemed a lovely man with no "heirs or graces",,,
i found it very hard to choose between the wire and the sopranos until breaking bad arrived,,,
so my top 3 are breaking bad,,,,joint second for the wire and the sopranos,,,,
hope you peeps are getting " peaky blinders" from the bbc in the uk,,,,pretty sure if you like the above then you will love " peaky blinders",,,,,,,
peace and regards s2

The wire is the goat of TV shows... At least imho.
Smartest most realistic portrayal of cops, politicians, and drug dealers.
David Simon is a genius

Really disliked the kids bits, watching adults getting fucked over is grand, the shitty schools and the kids going down hill is just too sad.

Sopranos hasnt aged well imo, too slow at times compared to new shows. Is the season 3 peaky blinders better?

That dock season was pretty weak sauce.

Why were they shipping people and stealing electronics again?

Weren't they in a union of dock workers?

Someone please break that season down for me.

If they would have maybe went deeper into the organized crime, mafia, cartel links it would have done better.

It was really hard to sympathize with the characters.

Corner boys shooting out over blocks while avoiding the neighborhood bully,
corrupt police, crackhead parents and a school system that "leaves no child behind"...
That, I can relate to.

stealing electronics from shipments? ...ok
shipping people in containers?... ok
a police officer that rides around her beat with headphones on?
That's where I draw the line!!!

That season was pure comedy.

They should do a spin off with Avon and Weebay from lockup.

Good reminder !

Had Season 3 in the bottom of my Netflix Queue (I have the DVD type account).

Of recent shows, I would nominate "Heroes" for Best Ever.

I thought it sounded real dubious at first, but I think the plot writing special effects etc. are just real interesting.

It is full of metaphors about technology, sort of like Harry Potter - metaphors that come true ... the kind of science fiction that becomes science fact

GOT has surpassed The Sopranos for best show ever in my book. Band of Brothers, the Tudors, Lost...The Wire was a good show but not even in my top ten in this class of series. It was a little slow starting for me, but picked up well imo

oh yes,,looks like a much bigger budget and pulled a masterstroke by getting great character actor paddy constidine to join the cast as a very bad priest and shaping up to be very good imho,,
violence could be toned down a tad,,,,
watching faces opened up is awful but great effects,,,,s2
