The Wire - best tv show ever???

Yes

Dam, every time i rewatch this show it amazes me

for those who have not watched it, please do so, it great

it takes the subject of drugs and turns it into a amazing 5 season journey exploring society and drugs influence

and unlike weeds it actually has drugs and the drug industry in it

im rewatching season 2 now and the introduction of the greek

I just finished re-watching the entire series.
My favorite was third season which featured "Hamsterdam".

Yea so happy that they have that on HBO to go. I am thinking about ordering the DVD set just to have. Marlo is the man.

that season facinated me the most

to me it showed how an utter dedication and focus to a career you can rise to the top..... but at what consequence??? If you ignore the product marlos business ethic is actually interesting

marlo was apparently based on a true character.......

this was based in the late 90s and early millenium when cell phones and texts first came in........ cant help but wonder about those numbers and what they look like in 2012............. is there a marlo in every city or is the territory split between hundreds of people????. are the numbers accurate???? has the model changed????

Im in the uk and in my city this model is applicable, one or two known kingpins ( that change every few years ) and a lot of street dealers

Every few years a big dealers busted with a few million quid, its like a millions not that much nowerdays lol

A few weeks ago a house near me was busted with 20kg of coke and a half million in the walls.............. they live near my mum and are in there 50s, never would have guessed they were in the " game "...................... reminded me of the greek or his flat cap worker...

but then again thats how these people stay under the radar

It depends on the cross section of society that is watching, but in this group I would say so. Great casting, dialogue, arcs, and music. I loved how they told it from all the different perspectives. Would have loved to see it go a few more seasons.

fuckin awesome show....even took a class in college that was devoted to the wire..we would watch an episode then debate about shit.

i wanted to see more seasons too..there is NOTHING available now that can even compare or compete..i wanted to write a few more episodes that follow marlo stanfield after he leaves b-more...he moves to oakland sets up warehouses and grow cookies, and starts shooting bitches in the tits for not trimming correctly...

the "greeks" were my favorite characters, shit season 2 was one of my favorite..season 3 and 4 were also great. but season 2 was polarizing, some folks thought it was boring, all the dealers i know loved season 2, those guys had shit down. my favorite line was at the end "but we arent even greeek...hehehe"

Love this show I watch it anytime I want a slice of home.Never could get my mother to watch the show its too real and upsets her since she spent more than 35+ years in Baltimore. Best show ever invented watching the Sopranos now its ok but can't compare in anyway to the "The Wire."

My cousin was a pretty big street dealer in Baltimore had six cars the lifestyle got killed making a simple drug deal with a child hood friend. The life is there if you want it, the sixth season was going to focus on the latino population but none of the writers knew anything about latinos so it eneded in the fifth.

A lot of that show was filmed in my neighborhood. In fact, my house is in some of the shots. Had a grow going on at the time!;)

Great show. One of my favorites of all-time. If you haven't seen it, get out from under that rock and watch each season back-to-back ASAP.

And torrents? C'mon now. Buy the DVDs and support good writing, acting, and production.

the sixth season was going to focus on the latino population but none of the writers knew anything about latinos so it eneded in the fifth.

Nah, the issue of immigration was going to be season 4 if they did it. David Simon said they tossed the idea around during season 3 but because they went so long without knowing if they were going to be re-signed they didn't do any research and weren't prepared to do a season on immigration.

Instead, they went with the Rise of Marlo storyline, the boys, and bodies in vacant houses that they already had prepared.

The media was always going to be the final season.
