As a country there's usually some one in the background making a buck on it while we tear up some third world country. We're pretty good at that.

As an English person who has visited your great country on a few occasions, I find it sad that there seems to be so much division and in-fighting these days.
From my experience, It’s a wonderful country full of basically friendly but down to Earth people, that’s being torn to bits by some rich, over privileged, asshole politicians.

Media only shows the far left/right because they make the most noise. That in turn gets delivered to the politicians ears who believes it because it fits into his/her ideology.

I assure you, 80% of the US could have a civil discussion. But it's the 10% of the assholes on the left and the right who make it impossible to have a discussion because to them, that the opposing 10% is so morally reprehensible that no idea they could ever muster has any kind of merit and should be immediately dismissed by everybody.
