Second runoff reading is coming up!

#2 Runoff reading:

1.0 EC in, 1.4 EC out. pH 6.5 in, pH 6.4 out.

- Stable and she's finishing. Maybe let her go 12-15 more days at 70-73 days from flip?

Cheers!

Curious to see when they finish and how the yield compares to 12/12. The lowest I've gone is 11/13. :lurk:

It's far from a perfect run but she's performing better than expected. If I land somewhere close to 770g as last seed run under 12/12 I'm a happy camper.

I've finished sativa's on 8 hours before but never initiated flower with it. She was vegged for 4 weeks under 12/12.

I'm not going back to 18/6 in veg and 8 hours in flower seem very positive for sativa dominant strains. It's a good tool to have for sure to steer and alter growth.

I missed discussion about light schedules?

I missed discussion about light schedules?
It's nothing special but I'm testing to run 8 hours of light in flower instead of 12 this round. So far I've seen some morphological changes and turnover is faster for sure. I will probably be able to harvest her 10-14 days earlier with this schedule.

In veg I run 12ON-5.5OFF-1ON-5.5OFF-12ON it's commonly known as "gas lantern" schedule. One hour in the middle of the dark period keeps them in veg.

I'm familiar with the gas lantern schedule for veg.

A good friend of mine experimented with shorter light cycles to see how much yield he gave up. According to him, he didn't lose too much; maybe 20 or 25% less yield when running a pretty extreme 6 on and 18 off schedule.

The nerd in me wonders if we crank up light intensity but have shorter days, will the plant yield show that? I'm thinking we're just playing games with DLI so why not do it with some intention?

Some very knowledgeable people say that the plant can only optimally photosynthesize for about 7 hours. So who knows? Most other commercial crops use less light hours compared to Cannabis growers and still produce large healthy fruits.

I don't think I will loose much yield over last run and I had some mishaps along the way.

Cheers!

Thanks bud, It's a mixture, there's cocoa kush, 3x exo, grape fog, lemon cherry gelato, blockbuster x2, slh x rainbow belts x3, lvtk, sour tangie x2 and meltdown the morphology of 12-12 /11-13 makes a crop so much easier to manage its a joy 🥳
Are they autoflowering plants? I've never done 12/12 from seed.

They're photoperiod bud vegged in 12-12 tbh 12-12 from seed is the best move I made in growing i wish I'd tried it long ago, there's no downsides for me vegging in 12-12 it's all been beneficial.

I'm getting nice manageable sized plants and a reasonable yeild considering the input.
Hard to argue with results!

61 days since flip and final bulking phase is on for real! Heavy flowers and smell is getting louder. I've seen some colouring indicating she's getting ready.

I'm keeping both temps and humidity a little bit lower at this point but still adding moisture since it's bone dry locally. Keeping temps at around 27C and humidity 56-63%, peak flower with full humidity is closer to 29C and 75% RH.

I've been feeding 1.1 EC the last couple of days pH 6.5 and she's still eating and drinking like a hog with 1.55-1.6 EC on the runoff. Final growth spurt now and then I'll lower light intensity, humidity and temps last week of flower to let her finish in peace.

Cheers!

63 days from flip. She's spending the last week or two at the spa with 7 hours of light. Lol!

She's having a last growth spurt with increased intake on water and food, had very little runoff first runoff reading and that's after lowering light hours, intensity and temps two days ago. I increase input EC back to 1.2 from 0.95, pH 6.3-6.5. Runoff came out on the lower side ~1.15 EC so she's really started to eat for the final bulk. We'll see if shes able to finish in a week but we probably have to run her another week to make me happy.

I mixed 50ppm Silicon from 0.2 EC Potassium Silicate, then adding base to 1.3 EC and dilute down to 1.2. I also add humic/kelp extract all the way through flower and some light dose smelly fish mix.
I often end up diluting and raising a few days apart according to what the plant is doing. Nutrient uptake goes up and down like a sinus wave. Residual Si lands somewhere 30-40ppm which is ideal for flower IMO. It's hard to overdo it while keeping the total input EC low.

Cheers!
