Day 28 - 12/12
Can't believe I made it the whole week without updating, that was hard! Let's get the obligatory pure pics out of the way first of all:
Yeah, I know. Now onto the real grow:
I've been battling really high humidity through this. After the last update a whole heap of lower leaves went weird and died off on all 3 plants. I started noticing these weird white specks on the coco of the pure, which I had when I got attacked by some kind of mite or bug in an old grow. Plus there were things crawling around in the pure's coco as well, something else. I could instantly tell things just weren't right.
Anyway, I finally got a moisture absorber pack, plus I put a second fan to blow around under the canopy and directly on the pure, plus added a light down low, hitting the Pure and the edge buds of the screen, and flushed - between all of this, it fixed all my problems almost overnight. Solid improvement every day since. I think I'm good to go with NO chems used. There is just so much natural pest resistance simply by having a healthy plant in the first place imo. Coco makes it so easy.
I gave the shivas a rather heavy dose of a generic PK boost a few nights ago. Been so long since I budded anything that I forgot the dose and the original bottle is elsewhere, plus I couldn't search for it because it's confusingly named (Potash+ but not the stuff dutch master makes! and "+" is a search term modifier so you can't search for "+" lol crazy).
It seemed to take it though (it was 150% strength I found out later). I always try to err on the weak side when nuting so I guess that gives me some room to move with things like this. The DM Gold nutes I'm using aren't meant to have PK added but some people do anyway. In the past I've just switched temporarily to DM Advance if I wanted to add PK. If anyone uses Dutch Master Gold I'd appreciate your input on adding PK booster products.
Also, it's just so hard to judge nutrient needs in a cramped scrog under CFLs. I am pretty much running on spidey sense which is why I keep it low ec. Some pics I look at it looks overfed, others not. :/ Normally outdoors in optimal conditions I'd usually be crankin' at 1.4 now, but I keep these guys 1.2 ish. I might try pushing it higher again.
I started working on a new project too, it's top secret for now but it's gonna be impressive and very micro/stealth/cfl/scrog/coco/carbon scrubber ish. Also got my 30x loupe in preparation for harvest here, and my *activated* carbon should turn up any day but really, I haven't smelt a thing from this so I don't think I'll change it.
I don't get to smell anything when I open it because the suction is just so strong. I often graze my forearm against a bud while adjusting lights though and my arm smells out of this world. Not skunky at all. More like berries or something. Very nice.
