Florida is not “in the middle” of per capita infection rates. John Hopkins puts their infection rate at double what Florida states it is.

Dunno about hopkins ( baltimore? ) but I can tell you that hypothetically speaking I live in a county on the left coast of Fla that contains one of the oldest populations of humans in the country........and the er's at all 4 hospitals within a 10 mile radius are clear and ready for your emergency. Now on the other hand and other coast while at cleveland clinic ft lauderdale not long ago, I was dashed thru the er to have my dick catheterized because there anesthesiologist apparently was trying to send me into permanent sleep, which made my lower extremities go sleepy pie, no more pee etc, and so they had a nice female nurse catheterize my dick, no fun and which I do not recommend to anyone and it was packed at around 1am....saturday, with what appeared to be a lot of car accident, fights etc.

Happy Holidays :bigeye:

Hopefully your hospitals stay that way, on either coast it has enough population to get out of control. Probably should try to avoid those Ft.Lauderdale trips if they end up that way, sometimes not possible. Fla is nice, a different world compared to Midwest and west coast. Spent a few years there in the mid eighties in the Naples area. Mostly good times.

Florida seems to be deliberately undercounting their covid stats, I’m not aware of another state doing the same although possible.
Johns Hopkins has them on average of 10-11% positivity, while Florida says it’s closer to 5%, which is used to justify keeping everything open.

Florida gets that 5% rate by including all negative tests, even if a person has tested negative before, and there can be significant amounts of retests. They only count the positives once.
They also combine two types of tests, using one that provides more false negatives.

Johns Hopkins doesn’t count the repeated negative tests
