why? shooting stupid people will get expensive quick, given their numbers and high cost of proper ammunition these days. morals no doubt lay a part. one side sees the other as misguided, the other sees them as being largely less than human and worthy of "control" or even possible eradication for the "good of society".

However, the desire to kill dissenters leads to the exact opposite result.
Already these thoughts carry the danger of a post-fascist society!
It is a sadly popular mass hallucination (no matter on which side!!) to fall into the deception that everyone else is to blame for the current situation and only "we" are the good guys and therefore have the right to silence others in whatever way in the name of tolerance and "for the best of all".
