The Sopranos

IMO the only show that's better is the wire, like sirharrynugs said (If you haven't seen it, buy the dvds - TRUST ME). HBO is one of the only channels I'll watch, but I'm not crazy about many of their new shows. In treatment has good writing but it's too dry for my tastes and john from cinn. is just plain fucked up. I think that new John Adams series should be pretty good.

i might check out that john adams series for an ep. or two. but im reluctant to get into any more of HBO's series....you watch and you watch only to get let down after a season doesnt do well.

My cable system has it on demand...Right now is season three and I've watched Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood three times just this week.

The music is this episode is called a "mash-up" with The Police's "Every Breath You Take" and the theme from the `50s private eye show "Peter Gunn".

The tunes have always been a character in its own right, setting mood, pumping up the emotions of a scene, illustrating character down to a fine point.

Chase and Van Zandt knows how to either marry a song to a scene or have it be in deliberate juxtaposition to a scene.

What a shame it's over.

They used music rather sparingly if you ask me. When it was used, you're correct, it was meaningful and well thought out. i think there was an interview somewhere where they discussed the use of music in the sopranos...ill try to find it for you
