I personally think the genetics are out there and can be bred again, but the actual cut's are extinct. I have gone though thousands of different strains over the last 18 years and only once after the 92 RKS that everyone wants I have come across something similar. It was in 1998 and it was very close, yet not exact. It did have the potency though and the smell was three quarters there. A small nug could keep you partying all night long if you could conceil the smell well enough so you wouldn't get popped. Unfortunately it was only 1 pound and I could not locate the grower to see about purchasing a clone.

My hypothesis is it went extinct because it was too smelly to grow and too many people growing her were getting busted because of smell alone. The genetics are there so its only a matter of time before someone gets lucky enough to put the same ingrediants together to make her like she was.

A couple years ago I got my first and only bag of RKS. To this day it was my favorite smoke. That smell was just OMG. I held the bag a few feet away from my moms face when she was sleeping, and she woke up and said holy shit! Nothing I have grown to this day was anywhere close to smelling that stinky. Always a slight skunk with some fruity undertones. :pointlaug

Sorry brother but there are no fruity undertones in the original RKS from the '80's-early'90's that we're speakin on...

bound to find a keeper in those man -- keep it going and let us know what you find. go slow and don't kill the males right off the bat--if you can't get us some seeds I'll take some smudged on a post card :) cheers

Sacred has over 1000 beans of mixed varieties and strains to grow out some day but is currently not in the location financially or tactically as far as safe places to grow....

Chief Rbud,
whats up man?? I'm on the west coast what lands do you dwell in?
Keep looking for the seeds they may turn up in an old box never know! You grew and bred with it for 8+ years that means you've seen it in its many forms..you are saying that the stinker is not in the community but where else are we gonna find it? are you telling me to seek it over seas like south america or asia? or hit up the midwest corn field growers?

peace!
time for a smoke! solar rip!

im down south on the gulf coast. im thinking that someone in the middle of nowhere USA has some beans laying around. someone may even be growing it. i think most people on these forums are growing commercially available strains, and all of the commercial strains that had RKS in them originally have had it bred out. i don't buy much weed anymore, its too much of a hassle, so i couldn't say if its still going around here. outdoor harvests around here will be happening about now, and maybe we can get lucky and run into a seeded bag of it. one could only hope. i originally got my seeds from a bag of weed, grown outdoors by another local grower quite a bit older than me, but he hasn't grown in years and has turned into a major pillhead and has lost his place. so i doubt he has any beans of it laying around. if i run into him i will ask him, but i don't know where he moved to after he lost his place last year. i will ask around and try to locate him.

She's Stinky with hints of sweetness
I noticed in soil i get way more sulphur skunk smell
Hydro tends to get a hint of sweetness ....

i think beneficial bacterias in soils are the key for the terpenoid production to get more of the skunky flavs

I cannot believe what I saw last night! Earlier in this thread I hypothesized that the RKS was extinct, but the genetics are still around waiting to be put together in the correct order. Well, I am eating my word so to speak.

I have friends in the Hamilton Ontario area and it is close to where I live. I have been hearing of this crazy Kush strain that everyone is going gaga over. I always am on the lookout to purchase pounds in between my crops and I have been offered this Kush several times and passed because of the price being 3200.oo$ a pound! Here in Canada that is unheard of since around 1992 or so. The most I would pay would be 2300 and that has to be dry as hell and a solid 9 out of 10 in looks and potency. Most is 2000.

If bought smaller its 40 a half quad, 80 a quad, 160 a half and 320 an oz. It seems people have no trouble purchasing this stuff for those prices, so it caught my interest. I had to see what this stuff was all about.

I went to my friends because he had just purchased a half quarter. As I was walking up the stairs to his apartment I could smell skunk like it had sprayed in the hall way. When I got to the door I thought forsure he was growing in there without a carbon scrubber. When he opened the door the smell hit me like a ton of bricks and it was in a bag in his living room about 25 feet away and wrapped up! I could not believe it, it was the RKS smell exactly as I remebered it.

He went into the living room and took out a bud and showed me. It looked just as I remembered, but the colour was more brownish than the neon green with bright orange hairs like I remembered. This could be because the Skunk in the 90s I use to buy was a little more fresh and probably not cured like this stuff was. It was bone crispy dry, yet retained enough smell to stink up the entire three floor apartment.

I have not smoked it although I have him getting me a quarter to try to see if the buzz is the same upitty type, party all night high the RKS is notorious for. Regardless if it is the same or not, it is closer than anything I have seen in years. If it has the same buzz I remember I would have no problem telling everyone the RKS is back. Also, if I grew it I know I can get the colour the same as I remember it being.

I was happy as hell to see it still exists, at least something almost exact, but at the same time sad. I wondered how the hell I can compete with that! Its amazing something can reak that strong and be natural.

I have to find where this ca,e from and somehow aquire a clone. It is my new mission. I know it is grown locally in a fairly small set up because there is not available for long periods of time and it is too stinky to ship or travel with.

Everyone calls it Kush, but I think itis just a name the grower named it because it is like no Kush I have ever seen. Anyone have input on this or remember ever coming across such a noxious Kush strain?

Great thread. Got me thinking...what is the Afghan term for describing a skunk smell? What do people who've never smelled a skunk associate that smell with? (Have any of these Dutch breeders ever smelled an actual skunk?) I grew up in the midwest and am very familiar with skunks, and I guess to me a skunk smell is so specific that I have a difficult time describing it as something other than skunky. Skunk.

The search continues. This week I got gifted 5 cuts from a very old afghan, held by a friend, who's dad was in the peace corps, before the soviet union invaded afghanistan. Even as tiny as they are, they reek of nasty skunk spray. I'll update in a few weeks.

so how are these girls coming? you should be flowering by now, what do the buds look like? how do they smell? are they sweet at all or just straight up skunk spray smell? please let us know, and if they are what we are looking for turn at least one into a mom so you can keep her, and take some cuttings to self and make S-1's and send those fem beans into the auction on this site.

It's killing me that this thread is still going and no one has found the true RKS. I know full well it's still out there. I came across the lime green stinky dead skunk goodness in a small town outside of Gainesville FL only a couple short years ago.

GB2P, its still around just people are hoarding it. Whether fear from transporting it or the fact that it could mess their bread and butter up they won't let go of it and not to anybody who's trying to help the community find it. Also I think the bud you speak of is call GG for Gainesville Green. Its been said to be a skunk thats roadkill'ish. I have a friend going down there soon and she's supposed to check around for me bout it. She's from Fla. and has 2 friends also from there currently attending a college in Gainesville. Her mission is to find me any info on the GG at all costs, lol. She always says yea the weed down there is so good but I don't know what its called. Hopefully she can at least score me some beans, that would be sweet. She worried though bout bringing even a few seeds back as she is flying and also a natural blonde in all sense of the word. So i'm still talking to her bout it but who knows. Take care 1

tell her to send them priority mail in a small box with some other stuff, its the best way within the U.S. they are starting to use the x-ray machines even on domestic flights, a friend of mine was leaving hawaii and they were using it there, and also some kind of thing that detects if you have residue from drugs (probably only weed) on you. i wouldn't risk having it on my person or putting it into an orifice at all. used to be the best way, but times are changing!
