my friend brought back a sack of bud from colorado that had the strongest skunk smell to it than any other weed i have come into contact with. i didnt think this kind of smell was possibe with pot, literally smelled like my dog after it had been sprayed by a skunk, exactly. the bud itself was lime green with dark gree leaves and very birght neon orange hairs. i really wish i would have found a seed in the bag but there wasnt.

also, this was two years ago, so the strain is still floating around.

I hear so many people bag on skunk #1 and how much it sucks and you just must've not had enough of them. skunk is a widely variable strain and some phenos will knock your ass over.

motaco- i dont think skunk #1 sucks. its just not skunk like i think of skunk. its a sweet high-yielding sativa-dominant strain but it doesnt have that repulsive roadkill factor to it. im a little sick of the bland fruitified skunk #1 but it still has potential to knock me on my ass given the right pheno...

one positive attribute of musty weed is it maintains its smell alot longer. its better commercial weed because in six months it still smells funky instead of like decaying thc.

lol thats a good one, u think sam or reeferman are the only ones capable of growing volumes of skunks? anyways what is the point of growing a volume of skunk#1's? skunk#1 was inbred to breed out the rks and to enhance the fruitiness since that was the direction it was chosen to go.

instead of growing out millions of fruity skunk#1 hoping to find a needle in a haystack wouldn't u just want to get the oldest skunks possible since they would be more skunky and less fruity and go from there? no one has any chance of finding any rks in anything on the market....it's already been hacked to shit.

the best bet would be working the cheese cut since it is older and still has that dank quality that no skunks on the market have today....or starting beans from rks buds from the late 70's or early 80's. searching todays skunk genepool would be the biggest waste of time i've ever seen.

so which is it? some people say skunk #1 is so uniform and truebreeding and now i hear it's widely variable? something so inbred shouldn't have a wide variety. i've grown atleast 7-10 versions of skunk#1 and have never seen a wide variety....i've also grown 100's of skunks indoors and out, crossed them with themselves, crossed them with other skunks, and have made skunk crosses and never found one that could knock me on my ass...ever...the sativa pheno is weak, the indica pheno is ok but not potent.

i have 1000's of straight skunk#1 beans and crosses. i wish i knew you skunk#1 fans personally cause i'd give you all of them. i found out searching the skunk#1 genepool for rks is pointless unless you can grow a million at one time and get lucky.

i'm talking about all skunks you can get over the market, if you have different skunks from your own area or something it could be different.

i have 7 plants going of a skunk we named pre80 skunk, they came from rks buds from around 78-79.....i have 4 females and 3 males....during veg and early flowering they smell like real skunk and burnt rubber. we don't know forsure what kind of male pollen produced the seeds so it could of been skunk x skunk or skunk x ?....but these 4 girls and 3 males show alot of promise so we'll see what happens when we open up the genepool a little bit.

well what are you smoking you find so potent?

I mean I've had skunks (certainly not most skunks, but some) that were as potent as daywrecker, or romulan, trainwreck, domina, etc. if you grew thousands it seems like you definitely would've found one by now.

I guess its possible that you specifically don't get that high off of skunks. it happens to me with NL, and the humboldt purps. they don't do shit for me when they are knocking down my friends. and alot of white strains give me headaches. but most people don't get that.

who knows. might just be your body chemisty.

yes your right, it very well could be body chemistry, sativas just don't do it for me for some reason...when i smoke them i sit there and wonder if i'm even stoned most the time.

i find the f cut to be real potent, bluemoonshine had a kick, black domina was ok, i thought romulan was weak, but raw potency is hard to measure, some strains aren't super potent but have alot of other killer qualities like lets say bubba....not the most raw potent bud but the high is excellent along with the looks, taste and smell. bubba is my favorite strain but not the most potent. then u take a strain like black domina and imo the only good thing about it is potency....lacks in looks, taste and smell...which is why i found it only ok....a strain needs to have everything to be great imo. but great to me might not be great to you and visa versa.

i know i'm not alone when i say i find skunk#1 just to be average....but there are people that like it too. but i find the high boring and short lived, too many red hairs, taste is sweet and fruity but not very powerful or long lasting, odor level is average. not something i would consider a keeper unless you really found a special pheno somewhere.

rks (atleast what i had and liked most) was dense lime green golf ball nugs with little to no hairs, deep thick rich smoke, knockout stone, and an odor level that is off the charts. just more my style...yours could be different.

but everyone is different so it's cool to express opinions and what not.....but since this is the rks fan club thread i can smack talk on skunk#1 lol.

1 thing skunk#1 has on rks (atleast the stuff i remember) is in the yield department. you can get fatty yields on skunk#1 and it's crosses.

but I hear you on the skunk. most of it is average weed, and the ones that are exceptional still ain't that exceptional. but I don't find it a bad strain overall. but not anything of the highest order either.

and I hear you on the sativas. that not feeling stoned is what got me into them. The first super super sativa I ever had I smoked two huge bong bowls. enough to obiliterate me on anything else. and I didn't feel shit. so I smoked about 3 more. and didn't feel shit. and started cursing the weed. then I heard a noise and it freaked me out so bad I don't really remember what happened next but long story short I was hiding behind houseplants to ambush a burglar who didn't exist with a sock full of pennys. thats when it dawned on me. I was REALLY ****ing stoned.

just a different stoned than ever before. it has no body umph and if your just sitting around you don't feel much. you gotta be active on them.

if I'm just veggn around the house I'd rather have an indica though.

Most of the skunk#1 stuff that comes around I won't even buy. But from time to time some really good ISS comes in. and it's very potent tasty strain with a very fun but numbing high.

motaco, i used to get some sativa dom superskunk that was rks smelling but had a fruity undertone....they were long fluffy buds....half an oz filled a normal sandwich baggie thats how light it weighed up....we called em 4 finger quarters back in the day...just massive sacks....them quarters looked like todays oz's. back in the day to me is early/mid 90's btw lol.

anyway that shit was potent, we used to sit around and smoke out of an alien bong all day.....everytime it got me paranoid, wet palms, fast heartbeat, but it was so tasty and stinky i just had to keep smoking more and more.....i made alot of my friends change colors and go home off that stuff.....i wish a guy could order a superskunk like that but it just isn't the same anymore....it's a shame what happened to the skunk line...it just isn't what it used to be....i've done my fair share of searching.

all i know is if a true rks popped up it would rank right up there with the kushes, chems, diesels, ect....even better then some.

i've heard alot of good things about ISS but that is one i haven't tried....anyone looking for a massive yielding skunk check out skunk special....the yields off that one is sick.

which I have as well. and I haven't done ISS either but people that I've talked to said they didn't see all that much difference between "pure" and iss except iss appeared to have been worked for more stability.

as I'm sure you know the "pure" is probably the least stable of the true skunks around.

That was the single most funny thing I read on here in a while.

Even the right brickweed can be psychedelic. I used to smoke mexican brickweed on the porch at night as a teenager. Sometimes if you looked straight ahead of you, the things in your peripheral vision (especially your legs) would look like they were floating towards you in a strobelike manner. Like how you can't see a lighting bug at night, but you can tell they are getting closer cause the light gets bigger.

Grass flowing like water,etc. Colors brighter. And this is just poorly handled brickweed

i hope to god ISS is better then the pure...the pure is the only strain i ever seen that the males went into full bloom and opened the pollen sacs and nothing was there. shootin blanks lol

some of the skunks i have grown and played around with off the top of my head are skunk special, the pure, htc skunk ibl, sams freebies, sensi skunk, superskunk, skunk x nl, few local skunks.

few crosses i have made with skunk are skunk special x kodiak gold aka special gold, kodiak gold x htc skunk ibl aka thunderskunk, pure x htc skunk ibl, skunk ibl x skunk ibl, plus a few outdoor crosses i made with the local skunks.

htc skunk ibl was the most "skunky" and probably the most stable skunk i grew that is over the market....i used the skunkiest mother and 2 skunkiest fathers when i made more beans but haven't looked into those yet...but them are the same 2 skunky fathers i used for the skunk ibl crosses i made.

these pre80 skunks i got have been the most skunky by far so thats a good sign....i got 8 out of 12 seeds to germinate and they are 30 yrs old so maybe the skunk gods are on my side finally....i culled 1 male because he was lacking in size and he was in a container with a female....i didn't think 1 of the seeds were gonna grow so i doubled 2 in one pot and they both ended up growing.

oh well what do ya do....can't wait until the day i have a fat sack that makes me smell like i just got into a fight with a skunk.
