The return of Cyclamen/broad/borg mites

Try it in last post again. I had that error, but not after repost.
Neem oil - these mites dont care
Soaps - dont care aswell
Chemicals - i cant get that, besides avid

- I might try the heat treatment 🤔 Even though it doesnt sound too good for their overall health, but i actually read someone dealt with them this way, with sucess.

I looked at second article which seemed good. Read 110F water soak for 30 minutes every 3 days to save cuts. Air does not hit everything like dunking. 1/4th size of spider mite so should still be visible with microscope.

Mine are too big to handle dipping in hot water for now. I think im gonna try instead turn on the humidifier and reach 100% rh and turn on the heat.. I hope that will be a bit more efficient to reach all spots on the plant

I think they came from my clothe when i was walking in the woods. So yes i always keep my clothe clean from now on when i enter my garden 😀..

I THINK i need some kind of ovacide killing the eggs, since i think the avid will wipe out the adults for the next couple weeks. Im in a country where im not able to get other miticides than avid and sanmite. Is there some kind of oil which kills the eggs?

My buddy was able to save some genetics from broad mites by dipping clone in mineral oil. It more or less killed the clone. Then a little shoot of new growth grew out of it with no mites.

Not exactly sure if I recommend it. But it did save a few strains we would have lost otherwise.

One ounce (should read "ONE PINT!!!" Not ounce.) of 90% isopropyl alcohol to one gallon of water. Add surfactant until it spreads instead of beading up on the leaves.

COVER THE ROOT ZONE

Spray the entire plant(s) down, top to bottom, underside of leaves and stems.

Do this every 3 days for 15 days.

As long as you're clean when you check your garden your issue will be gone.

For broads ? 😀 Did you experience it yourself wipe them out with just citric acid? And how many applications for how long?

I've never had broad mites but I've used citric acid effectively against spider mites. It's a well know treatment that works on spider, broad and russet mites. There are several commercial products with it as the active ingredient such as Nuke Em or Dr Zymes.

Ways To Control Broad Mites

• Citric acid • Herbal oils: • Cinnamon • Clove • Peppermint • Rosemary • Thyme

It's not a one shot treatment. It kills the adults so you'll have to spray multiple times to end the life cycle.

I can see someone advice to use a wetting agent. Is that what you mean by "surfactant"? The problem is i can not buy something like coco-wet. Could i use a soap instead ? Dr. Bronners?

Success is going to depend on more than just spraying the plants. If indoors you'll need to thoroughly cleanse the grow area and outdoors you'll need to treat any surrounding plants.

If you choose to use Nuke Em you should go to their website as they have a significant amount of information regarding the usage of the product.

Good luck.

Yes, dish soap works as a surfactant.

The iso/water route has a 100% success rate when done properly AND the source of infection is halted. ;) ZERO ability for the mites to build tolerance, and the schedule breaks the breeding cycle of the current outbreak.

What worry me the most is targeting the mites places where the sprays cannot get into. I heard these mites dig into the tissue. I guess thats why i had big succes with the Avid, since its translaminar into the leaves..
Its not like i will not try your method with the iso, but are you sure it was broads/cyclamen you had ??

- I've seen studies recommend hot water treatments. Actually i took a test on one of the plants today, and took it in quarantine, to see if it has any effect..

Anyone tried this method with water ?
