The recent invention of cannabis botany is a scam

AG is AG is AG - go look at my plants, the dood is right y’all - I grow everything from herbs to fruit to veggies to orchids to succulents to cactus to wasabi to…… etc, well the proof is in the pudding & I’ve got plenty of it

Woo woo juice is real & the cannabis space is marketed to the extreme and priced 3-5X accordingly, been this way for decades… chasing your tails as I like to say

Yes cannabis is a unique extremely interesting species but it effectively grows the same as other C3 plants and most plants in general want the same things and they don’t have to cost an arm and a leg I think is the point he’s trying to make - KISS Principle

PS: I buy my minerals/fertilizer by the pallet / Ton
I've done the same, lol.

Everything from cannabis, to a home garden, an orchard, baobab and cinnamon trees and protoplasmic synthesis.

Cannabis botany could be analogous to fruit tree or vegetable botany.

Every type of vegetable Will need slightly different nutrient ratios, the same could be said for cannabis strains.

For instance, some love heavy feedings, others will get deformed mutations, leaf burn, and stunted growth.

Btw, I've wanted to try growing wasabi myself, but would have to grow it inside due to winter temps falling below what wasabi can tolerate....what cultivar do you cultivate?

Yea right. Or it is just not that interesting as a medicine? Of course you can't patent THC but you can change it a bit, improve some properties and patent that. That's how most drugs are made.

In the 80s there was loads of interest in cannabinoids as drugs. Thousands of compounds were made but not that much useful came of it. The only drug that made it to market was an appetite suppressant (think anti-munchies). It worked, but not as much as expected and was later withdrawn for causing suicides. The same story as every other weight loss drug before it.
The last 10-20 years the drugs had a resurgence as 'spice' type synthetic cannabinoids. All substances were invented by big pharma and the number that was available illustrates how much research took place. Every year 10-20 'new' cannabinoids are introduced to replace what has been criminalized.

In the world of serious disease cannabinoids have no application. That is where our medicine has proven itself and is useful.
When it comes to improving quality of life, relaxing or an aphrodisiac weed has its place. But that is nothing that can be measured in a clinical study and scrutinized to the degree that drugs are.
That is not true. I have witnessed first hand the efficacy of CBD ingestion and the nearly miraculous results in treating neurological/seizure disorders.

My background in the sciences had lead me to be the world's largest Skeptic, especially concerning "alternative medications" so when I witnessed tangible results from CBD, I was truly mindblown.

I think cbd is a giant scam to sell hemp and animal fodder for human consumption.
I think they use the med benefits of cannabis to confuse the stoopid.
Frankly most cbd products do not contain any cbd at all.
Easier to hustle someone than to convince them they have been hustled.
People get very defensive and angry when they have to admit their wrong.

What is the scientific basis for your hypotheses?

Pharma shills (Russo, Jodrey, Chimera, Future cannabis project, et al) screamed for years prior to the hemp bill that cbd was a calming relaxing drug that millions of Americans could benefit from.

And every single hemp farmer lost his ass. Not only from decades of bullshit grow info from these same mouthpieces, but the fact that absolutely no one was buying cbd more than once. Because it is useless.

Cbd induces anxiety in every scientific study done. Everyone knows this. All they have to do is lie and the people will listen.

We know where this lie about cbd came from, and why. Same people claiming thc % correlates to more high. Someone obviously wants cannabinoid isolates on the market instead of medicinal Marijuana.

When the fake experts open their fucking mouths, you know they are lying. Grow up and accept reality.

I mean... CBD is not used in medicine except as a second line treatment for epilepsy. Second line is a euphemism for "better this than dying". Another second line treatments is laudanum (wine + opium) for diarrhea. You know, not the stuff that is normally prescribed.
But regarding CBD it is indicated for treatment of drug resistant epilepsy. The prescribing information discusses in much detail the liver toxicity associated with the use and how to manage it. I got the impression that within 5 years it has to be discontinued which causes the epilepsy to resurface (if it was even controlled in the first place) leading to exitus.
Sure it's better than nothing but it is not the wonder drug it is portrayed as.

I'm a gardener by trade and, whilst cannabis is a unique plant in some ways... it does indeed behave in most ways like other plants of similar type.. so the idea that you need a whole new discipline of horticultural knowledge to grow it is false. Having experience of growing plants/crops in general will certainly help you grow cannabis.
But also there are things to learn, some could be described as botany, that are pretty unusual. For example dioecious (separate male and female plants) is fairly unusial in the plant kingdom.

So for me the answer is somewhere inbetween. General botanical knowledge will go a long way but just like any other plant there are specific things you need to know about cannabis too. For example, one piece of cannabis botany that you NEED to know is that it requires a continuous dark period of sufficient length in order to flower.

but sure, there is loads of nonsense and products etc around that exist mainly to get money from the gullible, cannabis, sneakers, cars etc etc. That is the capitalist system that the world runs on.

You are simultaneously humorous as well as ignorant and presumptuous.

All those that practice in the fields of science and medicine have extensive backgrounds in statistics.

How do you believe the data is quantitatively analyzed when presented for publication?

The analysis is obviously based on results of objective empirical data, not "laying hands" which is not relevant to the scientific method whatsoever.

But..continue on with your Dunning Kruger, ignorance is bliss for some.

How can you say CBD is a "giant scam," then Literally go on to say; "THEY USE THE MEDICAL BENEFITS TO CONFUSE THE STUPID!"

These two cannot be mutually exclusive, if by your own admission it has medical benefits...then it is not a scam.

No legitimate scientist/researchers or clinicians have claimed it is a panacea.

Thanks for sharing your observations and thoughts. Maybe there is some new info in looking up scientific reasearch. The research concerning CBD grew in the last few years and there is new findings at least weekly. Just stating "its not used as medicine" is plain wrong and relfects your lack of knowledge on the matter. PUBMED could be a start, there is also some good podcasts on science around cannabis and CBD.

Its good to be sceptical, thats what science is about. But all you people around here who are seeing conspiracy in every bit of science ... thats sad. Maybe its the cannabis induced paranoia everyone is talking about. Who knows

All that paranoid conspiracy bullcrap is tiring. There is at least two more troll accounts in this forum you should have a little chat with. You are all pretty close in your views. Or maybe all the same person, who knows ;D

Pubmed is a repository of the scientific literature (similiar to google scholar). It is not where you look for medical uses. That would be publications of the relevant agencies, treatment guidelines by professional societies etc. They are not published in journals and thus not indexed by pubmed.
Medical science is very slow, especially if you look at a single compound. Inital approval takes 10-20 years and adding additional indications to the label takes 2-5 years. I don't understand how that would produce weekly findings. And as I said. There is barely any recognized medical use for CBD. It has severe hepatic toxicity.

Cannabis is not the wonder drug some try to portray it, it can not cure cancer or ohter deadly sickness but it can have other benefits as painkiller and mood enhancer. My mother is able to replace codeine pills for severe articulation pain with CBD oil at 30%, I have no idea if it"s placebo effect or really works but it helps her that's the most important.
Me I use cannabis as I'd use anti-depressant and it works as well, I know it won't work for everybody and i have to select the genetics I smoke because nor all have positive effects on me.
Growing cannabis is not that hard, it does not need very complex feedings to keep the plants happy, anyone who has grown vegetables can grow successfully cannabis.

Bedrolite (high cbd) is the least prescribed product for the least number of conditions at the company who’ve been prescribing the cannabis longest. Bedrocan (high thc) is the most often prescribed for the most number of conditions.

A quote from Ethan Russo (head researcher at gw pharmaceuticals when they were developing sativex)

‘there is nothing that cbd can do that thc can’t do better’

Medicinal cannabis exists, there was a lot of propaganda around the time cbd was legalised claiming that high cbd was medicinal and high thc recreational, the opposite is true.
If you like cbd it’s probably because it’s a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, much better to use a precursor like 5htp for this because it doesn’t block the uptake of medicinal cannabinoids in the way cbd does.

CBD blocks the uptake of other cannabinoids? I didn't know that, then what happens with strains who have equivalent % of CBD/THC?

It's probably placebo. Pain is very amendable to placebo effect which is one of the reasons why new pain drugs have a difficult time in the clinic.
CBD is probably not a causal agent. For one it probably is not 30 % CBD in the oil but an ointment that contains 30 % of an CBD infused oil. If that infusion has 10 % CBD (probably less) then it would be 3 % CBD in the ointment. CBD itself is not ideal to diffuse through the skin. It is way too lipophilic to go through the skin. If it is not decarboxylated the charge hinders diffusion further. Additionally the drugs that are formulated into transdermal patches are very potent. testosterone and other hormones, fentanyl and the like, all active in micrograms. CBD for epilepsy has a dose 1000 times higher.
But even then placebo is bigger than 0, so it does help by all metrics. Massaging joints also helps with pain, which happens during application.
