Most sellfng happened back then via hermies for a plethora of reasons
Yep. People would discuss stressing techniques to try to intentionally induce hermaphroditism. That's another example of bad breeding practices. It continues the hermaphroditism trait down the line.

Hey medman, what are you using to store seeds long term and short term. Always interested in what people are doing. If you use a desiccant, what kind. Etc.

Long term vacuum seal and freeze. Short term fridge has treated me well 😀

I never add anything direct to the container like rice or desicant. But I will add them in a container of containers if that make sense. I never like my seeds unaturally too dry

It makes sense. Dessicants should not be touching the seeds, but only the air near them. I used to use film canisters but moved to centrifugal sample containers, inside containers with a little desiccant that changes color so I know when to change it out.

That's a good idea 💡

I would say that the most elegant solution will match the person's objectives meaning their is no one best way 😉

I believe like you. But in the tupper boxes i dry the seeds before freezing, I have the seeds in little shot glasses and silica gel around. The humidity in this boxes is allways between 18 and about 28 %. Therefore I don't think they go to dry. But thanks for your thoughts.

Hey dude

Whats good? Always great to connect with fellows I've actually met in person

It's nice you have 4 plants to play around with in ontario. God knows it's the best thing that came out of legalization
Hi bro!!! Just chilling man, I'm not in the industry or even an experienced grower or anything so I don't know you outside of social media and when I saw you in Toronto once, but super happy to be here and follow your adventures!! Roadkill made me a very happy high schooler and I had the best hookup for it until of course, suddenly, disappeared and never to be seen again

I have a tent thanks to our new legalization yup, but certainly nothing but a struggling newbie overall 😬

Oh I fully understand rhodelization. I just want to know where the proof is that it will cause hermaphrodite traits in the offspring.

We know that environmental stress can cause plants to exhibit male flowers and that the resulting seed will be female.

What isn't proven is that the progeny will be hermaphrodite prone. That's a myth.

I'd like the above poster to educate us after making such an absolute statement.

Shit. Sorry. I was only focused on the why it can happen and did happen with rks. Not the progeny.

From my experience. Going back to 98. When I first started to actually seriously breed. All the bagseed I popped had about a 25% hermaphrodite outcome. My conclusion was hermies made the bag seed

As for the poster in question. Can only speak from my own experiences

Please show your sources for this statement.
Since you think its everyone elses job to educate you, I'll play the middle school biology teacher so the situation is comfortable for you.

The source is called plasticity. Cannabis has a high plasticity, it adapts quickly. The plant passes on what made it successful. If hermaphroditism made the plant successfully reproduce.... it passes on that trait.

Your turn.

Give a logical arguement against this.

How so? I don't buy your previous answer. One would think if you have to overly stress to get hermies it means the strain is relatively stable. In the old days we intentionally stressed to make sure we didn't have hermies and used the ones that did not .

Can we get back to road-kill skunk, please?
I've smoked it, read some of what Sam has/d to say about it, and even seen threads on folks trying to 'back-breed' for it(with no luck).
Med-man, are you trying to do the same? Having any luck?

2025 will be interesting

I have continued my own crosses where I feel like I have cracked the code but they need testing (plus after this year I have a list of males and females I need to cross) this includes a nose burning skunk that was released here on ic back in the day

I have also remixed what California's say the original skunk #1 was and what sam claims it was this year

So after alot of disappointment and few projects that were very close in the past. The last 3 years have been extremely encouraging

How are you still looking for RKS ? I thought you bred it already ?
