back in January there was a cold spell here -40-60 below zero and
we have a busted waterline…
bad part is it flooded the bathroom and I will have to replace the floor
here’s the kicker:
in plenty of time like 2 weeks notice , we put in a change of address before we left
it never went through
consequently we didn’t get our electric bill in time , $32 dollars
, and we ended up being 5 days latefukin elect company turned off our electricity
freezer full of beef and food , gone
same with fridgerator/freezer
blood all over the pantry floors , linoleum will need replaced , maybe floor if blood saturated it..
so I have been running around all morning , got electric back on , got freezer out of house , cleaned out fridge
now I am getting ready to assault the broken water lines , under the house in a 3 foot crawl space…
dive! dive! dive!….
That is one of the reasons I sold my cabin. I was only up there a couple times a month. One of the coldest parts of the state. I always worried about the furnace going out and the results when I finally got back up there.thank you for the Kind words!..

Oh No. what a thing to come home to. Sorry about all that. Does it smell rotten in your place? I lost electricity to my freezer connection once and it smelled like a dead body for sure. gave away the freezer and its bloody contents. It had not leaked in my house yet.thank you for the Kind words!..

I thought that after a certain age they left you alone. I am sure (almost) you will be able to be excused because of your age and your limitations.....I have doctors appointment booked daily for the next several years.
When I worked at the historic site people would bring there dogs and we had a place in the shade with water where the dogs were allowed to stay. One day this smallish dog was being led to the dog hangout spot when a robin landed on the ground in front of us. The small dog went into a state of panic. The owner of the dog told me...they had saved their dog from an owl. When the owl tried to fly away with the dog it couldn't get off the ground easily and the people were able to save their dog.
Ever since, the dog sees any bird and it freaks out if it gets too close.
I have had dogs before. and not nearly long as most folks here.I dashed my own dreams but after spending all day with him yesterday I see the intense love for me and due to him being a consumate bad ass...I just can't bring another dog into my life with Ivan...he's 100% devoted to me and is never far from my sight...Dutch was a very different dog, total warrior but mellow enough to spend 3 days in the hospital when I had surgery...If I did that with Ivan all hell would break loose if someone entered my room...he's obedient and loving toward me but he's daddies boy and would react harshly if he even thought I was being threatened or being intimidated...he's not viscious but he guards me and his turf...he would either love the pup or destroy it if he felt threatened...keep in mind he's not just a German
shepherd, he's a DDR German shepherd...no comparison to be made...he's a machine when he is working yet a loving little boy with daddy...I am crushed knowing such a great dog can be mine but I am being responsible and not inviting bloodshed...I really was thinking with emotion and not common sense...
Knowing what I experienced ,a dog knows that you dont feel right just as much as you know when they dont feel right.
Ivan knows and sees you in your troubled state so to speak so he steps it up a notch in protection mode.
I remember a story of a Mom commenting on how her doberman would be outside watching her 2 girls on the swing on alert ,paying attention ,watching.
But when her husband was out there with all of them the pup acted like a a goof ball given the day off.
They know.
