I had another cool one, though tongue in cheek.

A friends friend was in hospice with stage 4 cancer and had already made arrangements to be euthanized the following week, under the Death With Dignity provisions. I gave my friend some tincture for her and when my friend arrived to visit, her friend was sad and morose.

After dosing her, they had an animated chat for about 45 minutes about childhood and life experiences and then her friend nodded off.

When she awoke the first thing out of her mouth was, "that was fantastic" and the second was to call the nurse to cancel her euthanasia order. She continued to improve and left the hospice to live with her son and his family after about two weeks.

Alas, she died of a massive heart attack about a month later, but I feel good about giving her that month with her family.

I got an e-mail yesterday from one of our Skunk Pharm Research graduates that warmed the cockles of my heart. Here is the opening paragraph:

"I wanted to reach out and say hello. I've know it's been awhile, and you've really been on my mind quite a bit lately. Matter of fact, I sung your praise on a Instagram post the other day and it sparked not only a lively conversation, but so many came out of the wood work sharing stories and memories of icmag, Skunkpharm and the reality you created for all of us. Brother, I owe my life to you, and I want you to know that. I just woke up from a dream where we were sitting on your back porch talking about the universe. It was surreal."

Nice to have our efforts here and at the Pharm recognized and appreciated at this late date.

They didn't have the M-203 40 mm grenade launcher, nor the M-16 when either Walt or me were in the service. I was issued an M-1 and Walt probably either a 1903 Springfield or an 1873 Trapdoor.
I had an M1 in Coast Guard recruit training 👍 Heavy. Hurt when doing manual of arms and you had to rest it on your shoulders. Right shoulder arms HURT

I only qualified as Sharpshooter in the Marines with an bucket issue M1 Garand but refined my shooting to Grand Master 200 yard sitting rapid fire scores in DCM tournament competitions as a civilian, using a M1A Supermatch and my own ammo.

Sadly I can't shoot that good standing offhand, nor 600 yard prone slow fire, but I've reliably hit a 10" pie plate at 1000 yards, using a 50 BMG Barrett 90 and my own ammo. The 50 BMG record when I quit shooting was a 4" group using lathe turned bore rider bullets and a McMillian rifle.
Jeebus. [hat in hand] I could maybe hit a pie plate at that distance with a 155mm shooting fletchettes.

This is a genuine photo of me. Wearing genuine Sneakydicker clobber with my Family gun -- The outfit is historically correct, but new.

The gun is/was my 11-times grandfather's. He killed two men with it to save the life of Prince the Duke Albrecht Wentzel von Wallenstein, the CINC of the Holy Roman Forces. Felt weird to hold it.

They gimme a somewhat newer one later on. I never carried, shot, or disassembled a Mattel Toy.
