A very wise gentleman that I know, who is unfortunately now deceased, told me a long time ago that most people lose money whenever they forget their situation: i.e. old age being a major factor. If you are relatively debt free (whew), or nearly so, your primary focus should be: "Return of investment, much more so than, Return on investment". You are not going to be counting any of your perceived profits in the coffin, so perhaps better to be safe, and to enjoy life. I always, half-joking, but utterly serious, state when asked, if you have a need to gamble, go to Vegas. Bring quarters.:p
Quarters!?!
They better still have nickel slots!

I don't gamble.....learned my lesson.....I have been on a 50 year loosing streak. Haven't been to Vegas in almost 20 years. Place has changed....used to be cheap ..... not now.

Saying I head a long time ago and I live by it........EITHER YOU WORK FOR YOUR MONEY OR YOUR MONEY WORKS FOR YOU.

My money will go to my daughter.

Perhaps don't fret so much about your kids. And enjoy life more. They will and can take care of themselves. You trained them. Right? Take a look at some of the trustee brats, Paris Hilton, et al. Are they role models you'd like your kids to be like? Nah. You and I have zero arguement. I'm not yelling or telling you whatsoever what to do.My older brother, who is extremely wealthy, to say the least, pays for all his kids education, any music or sports lessons, etc. All the way through college, and any learning they choose to undertake afterwards. Including car, rent, food, books. Ater that is all said and done, they have 6 months to get a job. Any job. Alll support stops. Kinown years in advance. I paid all of my own way since I was 18 when my pop died and mom was crippled. I've done okay. Your kids will be fine too. Peace brother..✌️

I went to Cripple Creek gambling emporiums awhile back and asked the guard which machine pays the best.

I figured he would know being that he was there every day and I just arrived.

He said "The ATM".

I also learned an important lesson on how to double your money...

Take it out of your wallet, fold it in half and put it back.

I have done all that….only child…..but she is my best friend and has a great life. There won’t be anything left anyway……have you checked out the cost of retirement joints. Just kidding…don’t think I would fit in.

I don't usually gamble either, but I used to pass through Reno airport on business and would take the quarters in my pocket and stick them in the slot machines there. I frequently won a small jackpot but before I left they had their quarters back, as well as mine.

Saying I really like, I believe may have been attributed to Warren Buffett or perhaps his deceased partner Charlie Munger - not sure. Went like this: "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work every day of your life." Fortunately I've found a way to make money while sleeping. I still enjoy working, so I'll do it until I don't. Getting hi all day is not my cup of tea.. I use herb as a specific medicine. Right before bed. Very limited use. Or not at all too.:)

IF and when someone mentions the word retirement joint to me due to incapacitation, etc, there is a mesa in some dry southern state that has my final destination name on it. Push the wheelchair up the trail, then leave. Sayonara. (JK)
