An old guy told me when I was in my 30's, that when you are dying the first and last is all you will ever remember.
Easy if they are one and the same.
That's a sincere relief, because I can still remember some in the middle!

I've lived with 4 different women they were either too young or had surgery that caused them to experience menopause in a different way. The lady I live with now for the last 25 years had her ovaries out and changed how she experienced menopause and the way I experienced it. She mostly had hot flashes. I didn't even remember until she reminded me.
I've had hot flashes, doctor told me it was stress caused.
You sound eager to get out on the ice, better to be patient and safe than swimming with the fish.
I'm doing fine, mostly. I've been working with a new soil medium and my aging brain causes me to get confused about what I'm doing, my tendency for OCD does not help anything.
But, I think I just figured out what has been bothering me. You would think after 50 years of using the same system I wouldn't get confused, but oh no, not me.

Funny you mention that, my cat had a yellow rubber duckie and every night at bed time, soon as we got in bed and turned out the lights. He would get his duckie and run up and down the hallway squeaking his duckie. He was such a tease. He wouldn't stop until yelled at.

I've only suffered through menopause with Grayfox, but after just living with my first two wives it was a snap.
I noticed, but didn't suffer her hot flashes, and besides expanding on my egg shell walking and groveling skills, I let her vent, took her out to eat more, gave her more massages and back rubs than usual and bought her more roses.
We seldom fight and her good nature prevailed.
I seen a TV show about a young man(skinhead)he was troubled with a big bad attitude and was taken in by a woman to live in her home. His words..."she loved the hate right out of me."
Your words reminded me of that story.
