I've had 3 dachshunds
They're amazing. Better than Jack Russell or Shepherd

Dachshunds were bred for dragging Badgers out of their burrows and are better at doing that than the Jack Russel, which is a highly effective vermin dog, or the Shepherd which is way too big to fit down a Badger burrow.

Nice dogs, but you don't see all that many Dachshunds used for security, personal protection, or herding, nor for leading the blind, sniffing cancer, bird hunting, locating lost children, etc, et al, so I would hesitate suggesting they are the best overall.

Old dogs have their corners rounded and stickers broken off. There is nothing sweeter nor more intuitive.

this pic of Dutch was taken years ago on the front porch...he's such an intelligent creature with insane drive and heart...he's one of a kind and I was blessed to have had him in my life...I can't compare Dutch to Ivan, they both excel at what they do best...everyone should have a dog like this in their lives...I am weepy writing this as I know Dutch is on the short list...

Everyone has a favorite, regardless of how much we love them all, and ours was Heidi Ho, who trained us as we trained her and taught us most of what we know about dog training.

The only thing holding a well bred shepherd back is the owner. There is no breed as versatile or loyal. IMO

I hope Travis Kelcee's dog can emotionally deal with cynical attitude towards it, it's just not right.
