This is the first year since we've been back in Ok. that we haven't processed a deer. The youngest boy was the one hunting them but now he found a split tail. He hasn't the time to hunt. I prefer fishing over hunting.

(speaking of fishing. I went last evening and watched a bald eagle snatch a carp from the pond I was fishing. Don't see that much around here. I only caught one crappie. good enough for me)

That video brings up a good point about processers. Do you get your meat? I have a real concern about this when it comes to the beef cattle taken to them. Are you really getting your beef back? Is there a way to make sure it was your beef?

I had a thought of injecting a luminescent dye into the cow. That way I could use a UV lite to prove it's my beef. Need to see if it is feasible and take/make the time to look up what could be used.

any thoughts from the brain trust we have here would be great.

in the 60's and breezy.

More coffee :whee:
Possibly not unless your doing a custom order, I know deer get lumped Into one pile you could be getting parts off a roadkill, or something with a tinge of rot unless you butcher your own

There is work to be done in the basement today. Girls are hungry….up-potting snd trimming will round out the day.

Gotta start thinking about Christmas Eve. Family and friends coming over. Instead of a sit down dinner we are thinking about heavy hors d’oeuvres instead.

Take YOUR cattle to a 'trusted' processor. Tell them what cuts you want and how much fat ya want in the ground meat and hope for the best. Never buy ground beef in the 'tube'. It's extracted off the bones using nitrogen and they add 'texture' to it.
I was around farming all my youth(see my handle) and been involved in processing chicken, hogs, steers, deer, etc...Scalded hogs and crapped off the hairs, stripped intestines for chitterlings, learned to cut a slit in the deer/steer hide. 1 thing to remember, use a brown paper bag to burn the pin feathers off a chicken. If ya used newspaper, the ink will get on the bird.

I have too many for sit down. I put a Christmas cloth on my 8ft folding table for the food and leave the table open for the older folks who need to sit down. Also put a card table up in the Florida room off the kitchen. There is also a kids table in there set up in the corner that will hold a couple. I’m serving up mini Virginia BBQ sandwiches, ham biscuits and chicken salad also some little quiches along with fixen‘s. All the girls like to bring food too so the table will be full and my peeps like to take home leftovers so that’s good.

Well planned. Thanks.

Law school definitely is not for everyone. I remember starting out reading perhaps 50 pages per night in my assigned reading the first week, and then by the middle of the second term needing to have built up to 500 pages. I kid you not. I spent my mornings in the law school library when it opened before class, and stayed until supper time afterwards. At which time I was mentally exhausted and worthless other than thoughtlessly taking a walk or mindlessly surfing the internet, I don't recall there being a pass / no pass on the LSAT. I did though score well enough on mine to qualify for a scholarship my fist year, which is the most that they then offered. Then of course they pulled the rug, lol. I took out loans half way through for the rest. I never worked at a firm (other than clerking during school) and was fortunate to have had two firm job offers waiting for me. I took the second offer because of the pension and never looked back. Sometimes in life you get lucky and get everything right the first time. Sometimes you go left, when you should have gone right..It can be easy to miss a miscue, I think in that way we're much like other animals who learn from their mistakes after the fact.
I have three lawyers in my family.
My oldest brother now 74 and semi retired my oldest nephew and his wife a tall red headed beauty who is
in the NCDA office.
I became a street atty just to combat my older brother's mouth.

GM everyone,it's -12 out and busy day coming up . The garage is warming up. My Sierra hit 100,000 miles,no rust yet so I'm installing, new pads,rotors,struts,hubs/bearings,control arms, tie rod ends, axles, stabilizer links,rr shocks and headlight bulbs, and an oil change, then new tires and an alignment next week.I just took a pain killer cause I know it's gonna hurt more than the cost of the parts. 😐
