Second crown is questionable because I seriously doubt that you have failed for 50 years! Especially since you’re an engineer which in my mind means more intelligent than most.

8kw generac propane ,Get a big ass propane tank which could be used for heat.
Automatic transfer is a beautiful thing
A heater option for the generator in it for your cold temps.
Swede does not have to do nothing.

Let’s not forget that maintenance is cut by 90% if you only run propane and never put todays trash gas in said gen
