It sounds more impressive when I give my "measurements" in metric in situationsI like the simplicity of metric measurements, I don't know why some want to fight it, I guess the idea of change is difficult. At the time of change from Imperial to metric in Canada I was doing upgrading at a community college. I had my first introduction to the metric system in school, I'm sure that made it easier for me to learn the system.
It's good it fits in well with your work/hobby.
Fractions are a bit more heady when converting to decimals, which is not needed with metric system because you just move the decimal point.
