We have three graves on our property. They are three abreast, a pile of native stone approx two feet by five feet. Overlooking a creek. Further up the slope it flattens out. Found maybe arrowheads there. I imagine some fellow had a cabin there. Hand dug three graves and put them overlooking the creek.
Imagine digging the grave for a parent. A sibling, spouse. Your own child?
No but I would enjoy it for some people😊

A couple of thoughts. The first is that digging a hole that deep is a lot of work, but as you note a labor of love as a community improvement project, or for someone dear to you.

Aside from community improvement, before we started cremating our pets and saving their ashes, I built the coffins and buried Heidi Ho and Angel, both German Shepherd females, and the effort it took helped burn off the mental angst and wore my body out so that I slept soundly.
