I would like to say that it is my great-great-grandmother's recipe handed down through the generations but actually it is straight out of the Five Roses Cookbook and I have been making it for about 60 years . . .

Don't fuck with perfection!

They are beautiful ☝️
Nicely shaped, great evidence of chocolate chips, pleasingly plump, perfect color ,exquisite plate display, and they look low in calorie.
Looks like a perfect portion size too I may add.

I doubt that. And when I searched online, the bastids have changed the recipe. Here is the original . . .

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup Five Roses All-purpose Flour
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (use real vanilla not that fake shit)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweetened)
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar

Stir Five Roses Flour, salt and baking soda together.

Mix 2 tablespoons of the dry ingredients with the chocolate chips.

Cream butter; add brown sugar gradually, beating until creamy.

Beat in egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, mixing well.

Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.

Bake in a moderate oven (375°F) 10 minutes or until done.

Cool slightly before removing from pan.

Yield: 2 dozen or so.

For Christmas, I also make Shortbread Cookies - from the 5 Roses Cookbook as well (and once again they have changed it). It was the cookbook that was in the drawer when I was a kid. When my brother and I complained about the drudgery of the daily menu at home, my mother said: "Fine. Make your own then." And that is when I started cooking . . . She gave me a copy of it when I got married and moved out of the house. I gave a copy to my daughter . . .

Btw from my wife, I also have a killer Nanaimo Bar aka NY Special recipe that has been one of our Christmas hits for years . . . ;)
