Get ready... if you are lucky, you can get really old. And an interesting peculiarity of my own senectitude is that memories I have not thought of for over 70 years pop up.

Campbell's soup cost 8c <-- I remember this because Grandma was looking around in her pockeybook for a little round red cardboard disk with a "1" on it. It was a penny ration stamp.

Hadda match what you bought in money with both paper stamps and cardboard pennies. I saved the day (from a little kid's perspective) because I had just found one on the ground earlier, and could give it to Grandma so she could make the 8c.

Another wartime memory. One car had bumped another, and two guys were in the road, arguing. The gas tank on one of them had cracked a little, and gas was coming out onto the road at about the rate of what a soda straw would process. What I thought even as a little kid was clever: There was a third guy who put a bucket under the leak and captured a coupla buckets of rationed gas for his own car parked behind the other two.

Then there is the outhouse at the farm. Toilet paper was for princes and movie stars and the like. I had to use an old calendar.

Those days are behind me. (pun)

I got my first drivers license at 14 (1964). In Kansas you could get an agriculture at that age. I learned how to drive a 2 1/2 ton grain truck then. Air brakes an all. 2 speed differential as well. Was pretty good on a tractor as well.

True, same with algebra. I can't do algebra anymore.....I forgot the steps. Now statistics is my cup of tea. Hell I forgot how to multiply and divide fractions. Sometimes you have to invert the numerator and denominator. If you don't use it you loose it.
I use a calculator ,just saying .
