I won't have any challenges with the "fucked up" part, I can handle that. I might even get a gold star.

I still have not figured out the camera I inherited, it's got so many functions that I'm always wondering how to use it properly. It's not a real fancy camera but has more going on than my other one. Would be nice to understand it better because it has many many settings for various conditions.
Plug it in YouTube or the internet and learn what it does.

I've never had to use one yet but my dog is a dominant intact male so it might be on his horizon,he claims everything ,has a bad resource guarding issue and tests me all the time,he doesn't like anyone but me,,he tried to mount my son last night when we were working in the garage. He's like a cranky old man, I don't where he gets it.

It might sound crazy but we had female lab like this. She wanted to be the alpha and was willing to challenge my wife and I for the position.

1/2 dozen dominance down sessions until she finally submitted.

With a Pitbull dominance down could get ugly, so I use a fireworks popper gun (loud firecracker noise).

3 pits and most I had to use on any of them was twice. After that the sight of it was enough.

Ironically the popper would have never worked on the lab. She loved fireworks and had no fear of thunderstorms.

Your neighbor needs to get a better one then, :D

No training aid works if the owner has weak energy.

He gets angry with the dog and jerks it. That only makes it worse.

The most dangerous dog statistically is an abused male pitbull. I'm on my second one and he is 100 lbs of muscle and speed. But he knows his place in the pack and reacts equally well to my energy or a command.

Lots easier to do when they are pups instead of a 100lb alpha male who knows/likes to 'fight'.
Before you think I abuse my dogs, for a fuck-up I usually loosely roll a newspaper and hit my hand with it while wailing and gnashing my teeth. My displeasure is far more hurtful than hitting.
Exactly! You have to be the alpha dog of the pack.

Start EARLY and train often. Never give up. You win. If you don't you lose. It really is that simple.

Put tne shock collar on his ass though.
😆
I will need it for Ivan if at all...it will be with me as will 2 leashes...the collar goes from 0-131...I used it with Ivan when he thought pigs were something he could eat...fucker got 1 shock at level 34...I never had to use it twice...
l let him know what he was doing wouldn't be tolerated...I've had 13 GSD dogs in my lifetime so I feel I am pretty good teaching them...I never have use violence with any of them...I did have to pick up Ivan by the neck and we had a face to face...that changed him quickly...Dutch was the best of the best, he needed very little training although he got 600 hours of military training to do the things I felt a large dog should...I couldn't find anyone that would put a sleeve on for him twice...he hurt one decoy, got him in the nuts...Ian has a wicked mean streak if given the ability to use it, he is truly a terror when motivated, a lover almost all the time, at least with daddy...I will separate them with one side of a crate I have...Ivan almost snapped Lesso's dogs head off last year...both dogs are intact working breeds from east Germany...they are legendary for their ability...he was born to be a badass and by God he is...he listens very well and will quiver with drive if I give him the hold command...I am installing a steel screen to divide the 2 on the trip home...this first day will be interesting...

I agree about the energy thing. But we needed a shock collar for our 125 lb Mastiff Lab mix if he was off leash. He was a runner and liked to go explore. It didn't help that we're in Colorado where everyone loves dogs. He would venture out, find a new place to hang out and they'd call us telling us they had our dog.

We had a fenced yard but he would figure out how to bust out so nothing was going to stop that dog from wandering. My uncle in law has had a few labs, and 2 were runners like ours. One was hit by a car.

I wasn't a big fan of the idea, but they work, and I don't think they're that bad. I tried it on myself, and it wasn't fun, but I knew I didn't want to touch it again. :ROFLMAO:

My buddy had an invisible fence for his boxer. Apparently when the dog gets near the boundaries the collar gives a warning buzz before it delivers a shock.

Didn't take the dog long to figure out if he stood within warning distance long enough the batteries in the collar would die and off he went.

Sounds like Cally the mind reading GSD. She was my baby. i often took her to work with me. But everyone I ever dated had a Cally story. Usually, getting up in the middle of the night and Cally not letting them get back into bed. She would also sleep in the middle of the bed and get between us on the couch. Got a problem? She lives here, you don't.
