Before just giving my inversion table away, I'm scheming on ways to hang upside down without stretching my legs and hips.

It helps to incline, but I need to hang upside down to put enough weight on my spinal column to get it to stretch out. Full inversion takes some getting use to and I still limit to one minute at a time, but even at that, it takes several one-minute inversions to cause my back to relax enough to start popping.
I find a hot(really hot) shower prior to inverting helps.
