Mousasi over Sokoudjou - (T)KO. - This fight is a step back for Mousasi and it should end similar to his last fight with Babalu (who submitted Sokoudjou earlier this year). It's too bad he has no one else to fight at 205 in Strikeforce.

im hoping we'll see hendo fight gegard :woohoo:

see there is one thing about fedor that i think time wont erase

his ability to remain cognative after hes knocked for a loop

and hes instinctive defensive reaction usually results in the end of the fight

its more than uncanny

he specifically trains to remain effective after hes been tagged

after the fujita fight i said "so thats why hes the best in the world"

i dont know about you all but i saw something tonight i have never seen before. at the end of the first round i saw fedor swinging with some desperation. granted, he regained his composure during the break, but at the end of the first i believe that fedor was a little scared.

tonights fight did nothing but raise the price of brett rogers stock. i sincerely hope that fedor does give him a rematch and fucking soon. rogers said it all in his post fight interview..."i didint let my hands go NEARLY enough".

WAR GRIM!!

(and for those of you that dont already know.....i fucking HATE fedor)

What I meant by "composure" is his expression/demeanor. It never changes.
Fedor had his hands full for sure. He's getting older, gotta wonder how many more he has in him.
Rogers, with more training and experience would be hard for any of the heavyweights to handle.
I'm sure Dana and Lesnar are paying attention.

.

it makes no difference if they are paying attention or not. Strikeforce (read as "an organization that isnt the UFC") finally found someone that could make it out of the first round with fedor. what makes you think that they would let someone like that get away?

Rogers over Emelianenko - (T)KO. - Fedor is the best heavyweight right now and he has been for years. Not only that, but he's also one of the best the sport has ever had compete, period. His greatness can not be denied but I'm picking the heavy underdog. Fedor is strong everywhere, has beat people at their own games more times than not, has a tremendous fight iq, and he is capable of controlling any fight. With that said though, if Brett can land flush one time the fight will be over very quickly, if not immediately and I'm gonna gamble and say he does land that punch. Brett is a huge man and may be able to keep the fight standing. Even if he does, it doesn't mean he has the fight won because Fedor has serious power as well, but it's a gamble I'll take (maybe that's because there's nothing at stake... haha). If it does go the the ground though, where we really havn't seen Brett so how he performs there is purely speculation at this point, his size and power may make up for lack of a technical ground game. Mark Hunt who is a novice on the ground and is a similar fighter size-wise had some success controlling Fedor when that fight went to the ground. To counter that though I guess we could talk Hong Man Choi and the fact that Hunt still lost... Enough rambling on this one. I'm absolutely torn but I'm going with Brett.

Silva over Werdum - (T)KO - another underdog pick. I just don't see either guy submitting the other and a good portion of the fight staying on the feet as both feel comfortable standing and don't always persue the ground unless they get in trouble on the feet first. Both are capable of knocking out the other but if that's what it comes to I'm leaning towards the guy who has cinder blocks for hands.

i had a three fight parlay that won but i was not happy with myself because of how the fights went down. nate im very impressed with you and your picks. the picks im most impressed with are the ones that lost. in the future id love to talk to you about mma.

anyways i hope getting hammered worked out well for you, im sure ill see you here in the next day or so

i think he was talking about dana and brock watching so they can find a way to beat him.

edit/add on: which im afraid to say, is just to stick with straight punches much like the ones arlovski had success with and the one rogers opened with

well if thats the case gogo, the answer is simple. push the pace of the fight. rogers' gas tank didnt look to be that deep, and when you are talking about a HW that moves like lesnar....its not that difficult. im not saying that lesnar is the fuckin flash or anything, but he does move like a man almost half his actual weight.

in case i missed something and you are talking about beating fedor...we saw the answer to that very question tonight. you beat him by keeping him on the outside. you gotta keep a guy like that at the end of your punches, and throw with bad intentions.

i have to admit that i was ecstatic when i saw fedor start dripping blood from the first punch that rogers landed.

ive also been thinking about something that i feel was rather critical in the fight that we all havent spoken of yet. what if this fight were held in a different organization? one that actually uses the unified rules of MMA? now, i understand if you're asking yourselves "didnt they use the unified rules?" the short answer is...mostly. while in all actuality, i believe that strikeforce's rules took a major weapon away from brett rogers. elbows. in strikeforce it is illegal to throw elbow strikes to a grounded opponent. now im not saying that they would have been a deal-sealer. i AM saying that i would have liked to see what some elbows would have done if grim had been allowed to drop them while he was in fedors guard.

thats just something to think about.

different opponent, different organization, different platform, same result

edit: same ref tho

i think the only way we could bring up elbows is if rogers had a win in the past with elbows and i dont think he has... anyways i was very impressed with rogers

that proves nothing!

arlovski, if i remember correctly, was never in fedors guard punching him in the face. AA came at fedor with the "freddie roach gameplan" (read as: just box the motherfucker)

having a win using elbows is also irrelevant. the fact that rogers was in a position to use them and couldnt is what im getting to here. its like if once you were on the ground wrestling was allowed, but you couldnt use jiu-jitsu.

do you see what im saying here?

first id like to say easy mang. the pictures had nothing to do with anything other than me poking alittle fun at a fedor hater.

id love to talk about this fight more but not about whether elbows were relevant or not. id hate to get into an arguement about something that wasnt done in the fight or in the fighters history. id also like to say im against elbows and i wish they were banned from all mma competitions.

edit: id also like to say yes i see what your saying and also id like to say that there are plenty of situations where small joint manipulation can help a fighter win the fight but they cant be used so whats the point in bringing it up, as i mentioned before i hate elbows and i dont think they would make any drastic changes in a fight.

the only thing that small joint manipulation would lead to would be more injuries to fighters. once you injure your hands (im including fingers and toes here) then you are more prone to that type of injury occurring again.

the talk of small joint manipulation aside, the unified rules of MMA state that elbows can be used. i see them as a very effective technique. elbows have been used in classic martial arts since the beginning. hell, muay thai considers the elbows a limb.

i understand you not wanting to argue, and im not getting combative with ya man...it just seems that we differ on certain points. as you know, when people differ, debates happen...like this one here.

Well that was an impressive nite of fights....

Werdum looked really good... his BJJ is top notch...

Jake Sheilds confirmed my hatred of Wrestlers! Wrestlers (except Matt Hughes) all seem to have this uncanny INability to FINISH FIGHTS!!! They just Take down and sit on their opponents!! WTF!!! You're in a dominant position for 5 out of 5 rounds and cant posture up and let in Rain!!!

Miller Looked good though for sure! He had some moments....

REALLY impressd wit Sok!! I take back everything I said about him... I was always a fan of his, but I really didnt think he had a snowballs chance in Hell fightin Gegard! Though he lost, it wasnt nearly as bad of a loss as I thot it wud be... He got out of a few bad spots on the ground for sure...

That- what u call it? 'knee pull' Takedown thingy that Gegard used was real nice... havent seen that used before... But I think the fight was ended a TAD too early... I really only believe in tap outs...TKOs and KOs... Only way you know a fight was really finished...

Sok gassed big time after the 1st round...

And Rogers looked pretty good... No one can say he didnt have his chance... And I agree with Raven... If he had thrown some bows while he was on top in Feds guard he might have really slowed Fed down...

Fed definately looked scared for a few moments... Good job Fed nonetheless... He really could not have afforded to loose that fight...

Definately one of the best fight nights of the year... Strikeforce should continue doing the free fight thing and they may really be able to keep pace with the UFC... Alot of people dont wanna have to pay for fights... and with more and more people streamin fights on the Net (like I just watched) UFCs loosin money from PPV anyways.... Strikeforce needs to get the advertisers payin them and they can really make some money...

Really hope they put Monstereem and Fed in the cage next

Peace guys

for sure. it wasnt really a fair analogy on my part comparing finger locks and shit to elbows. but imo elbows just lead to unnecessary stoppages and our sport looking barbaric.
