you might want to check your PPM meter ... the EPA max level for drinking water is 500 ppm ... so i'm going to say yours is probably not very good for you to drink?

just a thought

500 hhmmm....i wasnt aware of that,it is good to know. i just checked my meter and its dead nutz. water from bathroom fixture is 780 ppm and kitchen is 660! hot water from bathroom 935 and hot from kitchen is 650. my building is 150 years old and some of the piping is still from the 20's some is new like the kitchen plumbing. i think its time to light up the village about this 600 ppm stuff.

hmm, yea, look into your local water laws / restrictions and such and see what the deal is. i'm sure someone has had it checked (i hope!)

I dont think this fella's meter is off. My house is about 15 years old. The tapwater coming into my home is always 700-850 ppm (on a .64 scale). Yet, our water department dismissively reassures constituents that the water is safe for consumption. YIKES, I wont drink it though.

tinman-I reuse my medium....if you give a long flush to your ladies, then it should flush out all the nutrients that are hanging around. Can't help you with the high ppm water though. just my .02

heya dub! thanx all. our village is totally crooked! they tried to raise taxes by telling us that one of our wells were leaking 2 million gallons a year and when it came push to shove the got caught in their lie! i tried feeding with my tap water once and plants were fucked up for the rest of the grow and didnt flower well.2ounces from 7 plants! i dont drink the shit,i get bottled water for that! i just dont know if it would be ok for washin my medium if i let it dry afterwards.
dub,my plants are good rite now i just want to rinse the medium after the grow is done so i can reuse it. when you reuse yours do you wash it before you put yer babies in it?

Sounds pretty bad. Of course the water ppm alone doesn't tell us how nasty that water is. There are lots of different water contaminants. For example - I would rather drink water containing 100ppm sulfate than 100ppm arsenic :D
The EPA sets maximum levels for 90 different contaminants in drinking water.

I came across an EPA water quality site with a US map where you can click on a state/city and get ppm/ppb levels of various tap water contaminants. The site's kind of a PITA after you click the state; you have to navigate around some, but you'll get there.

I have been using Hempy Buckets for about 9 months now and they are great. Almost never have a porblem and I love that I can leave it for 2 to 3 days with out watering. But I was wondering how long can I flush for? I started yesterday thinking I would harvest this weekend, but then I looked again and realized it was too soon so can I flush for 2 weeks or should I re fert them today?

Hello everyone,

I've been running hempy buckets for some time and i love the simplicity of this set up. I will post some pics to addition for the official thread.

I say thank you to mr. Hempy himself and anyone that run this set up will appreciate him as well :D

I run 2 different type of hempy.
- 100 % perlite
- 70% perlite and 30% vermiculite

These are grown in 5 gal buckets 100% perlite.

very nice red!
repo-the longer you flush, the cleaner your medium will be too. 2 weeks is fine for flushing. I've been doing that for a little while now, and my buds turn out nice.

Hempy Buckets ROCK!!!! I've been lurking and experimenting for quite some time now. I use Hempy's modified to capture run off, with PBP nutes, Lacto Bacilli, AACT's, molasses and foliar feeding.

I propagate with rockwool, Then move to 3" pots with 1:1 perlite and coir, then transplant to the Hempy Buckets using all perlite cased with a 2" layer of ECP's.

tinman-that sucks man...hate it for you...have you had any changes in temps/rh/water? Perhaps they need a nice flush and then back to the nutrient regiment? How close is the light from the canopy? Have you ever had this happen before? Are you sure you don't have a bug issue? Can you hang some strips in the room? I'm currently having some type of bug infestation with my peppers. It sucks...my peps have been growing nice and strong and producing tons of chilies for me since May and I had to cull one of them a few days ago....sprayed some insecticidal soap and this evening my number 3 & 4 peppers have those little bastards on them. I'm no expert at all, but I don't think ph at 6.5 will cause little white spots and necrosis to occur.
