The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

Well I'm just saying what Hempy (the inventor of this grow method) himself says peeps, and I get great results.

Hempy uses Canna Classic (aka Hydro aka Substra, depending on which country you live in), in a 10L bucket, and we all know how impressive his plants are.

I must admit I know jack shit about the lucas formula. All I know is that it's probably the most used nutes when it comes to ganja growing. If the lucas formula is for passive hydro, then yes you can use it in Hempy buckets.
Well I should have said hydro nutes, but since we're talking about hydro...well you know. Now I didn't really know there was a difference in hydro nutes as far as any being specifically for a passive system. I'll see what I can dig up as far as the Lucas formula :ying:

i decided to chop my juanita last night after 3 days in the dark.

i disected the roots today.

this is whats left of the 4 main branches, the rest of the tops you saw in my pictures were mostly just shoots from these 2 main branches you see.

roots colonized all of the perlite, and i mean ALL of it. it was a chose to shake it all loose from the roots. way better coverage than the last plant i showed with a little coco on top and perlite the rest till the bottom. im currently running a couple of hempy in beer cups for the great beercup challenge and also to experiment.

as you can all clearly see, clear pots did not cause my roots any problems, and as i said the algae didn't cause any problems either since its only a thin film on the walls of the inside of the container.

Let see if I understand well!

I put my clone in the perlite/vermiculite mix.

I feed them FULL strenght right away? Like 1000ppm day1 to last day? Every 2 days?

I water them with drain from day 1?

This method is qualify by being the simplest...feeding like 10 plants every 2 day look way more work than feeding my plant in pro-mix every 5 -6 days...

Yeah Exo that's it in a nutshell. Now every strain may not take full strength nutes at first so consider that. I started my plants in Hempy cups, And only fed ph'd water, I'll transplant them today or tomorrow into their final containers and I'll start feeding half strength nutes until I see what the plant wants.
I'm sure some hempy purist will have something to say about the feeding, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

1. Place rooted clone in perl/verm mix
2. Use HYDRO PASSIVE NUTES and follow the instructions on the bottle.
3. Water clones around the plant daily until roots hit the rez.
4. When you notice explosive growth, that means roots have hit the rez. From this point water until run off every 2 or 3 days.
5. FOLLOW HEMPY'S KISS METHOD AND GROW MASSIVE YIELDS.

PS. If you think that watering plants every 2 or 3 days is hard work then I really don't know what to say.

Peace.

Since your basically just watering your hempy buckets and letting it drain out the bottom like a soil grow then why is it necessary to have the holes 2" from the bottom also ?

Could i use just a regular flower pot since it still drains out the bottom or is the holes 2" form the bottom a must ?

okay...are we done with all that gaga? I sure hope so....this thread usually doesn't get like that, so lets all be nice & smoke up.
@Buddaluva- the purpose for the drain hole being 2" above the bottom is because you would be, in essence, creating a "mini" reservoir in the bottom of the pot. It's really important not to use a regular pot because, number one, the holes in the bottom would allow all the water/feed to drain off and the medium won't retain the moisture needed to sustain life...unless you were feeding/watering daily. Once the roots reach the reservoir the plant takes off. New water introduced to the plant push out any old water which may be depleted as well as introducing oxygen to the roots. It's an easy process which yields very well.

Ok.. well the 2" gives you a little more res than 1 1/2... that's all Budda..you'd just have to water more frequently. A regular flower pot on the other hand allows all of the water/nutes to drain out of the bottom. You might as well be growing in soil. The hempy method is hydro, or passive hydro...whatever. You need the exchange of nutes/water to be effective. The 2 inches or 1 1/2 inches allows the roots to have oxygen above the res. Medium doesn't matter a whole lot..you can use the original hempy method, or you can go with the coco method..it's all pretty much the same. keep a res at the bottom and air to the roots and you're golden. Simplified of course

Dub you're wise beyond your years. Man what a long day lol...love ya

dubwise is correct- the drain holes are raised like that to create a mini-reservoir, and that imho, is the essence of the whole hempy bucket idea.

Yeah jelly, the res is the important thing. 2 inches or an 1 1/2. You just water more or less

Note the dates, 10/15 was the day these pics were taken, ...so these are just over 6 weeks from being clipped off the mother and stuffed into a cup of moist coco.

...so basically, that means 2 weeks to root, 2 weeks to veg and now 2 weeks of flower, all in my very 'improper' miniature hempys, lol.
