The naming strains debate (Warning-may be long winded)

mostly here a clone is a clone rare to come with a name and if it does funny that its always the flavor of the month ie mango years back now white rhino but would normally come from unknown genetics..

bagseed?

unknown clone came to me with ??? name but due to yield the gifting grower named it bigbud just when BB was huge around 2000.

This one here came to me as a rhino clone but ive only heard of white rhino so what i call it.

Yet to name any strain myself but i guess if i x the two i would have something i could rename.

Charles Xavier used Zea sp. (Corn) as an example of a plant that was used to make an IBL using only a female from it's genetic population.....since corn is monoecious I'm now asking for a dioecious plant.

My point being that a clone only plant can never be made into an IBL...once you outcross it becomes a hybrid and no matter what traits you select for the IBL will be a hybrid of the clone..........Thats one of many reasons why it's wrong for breeders trying to make a quick $ to use the name of a clone only in an IBL.

What I can't stand most is when "breeders", sell F2s of other "breeders", work and change the name. There are a couple of shameless examples being sold now.

I was thinking all day about this and the topics involved...and I'm thinking a good rough draft approach may be a flowchart.

I've chosen this site for this cuz this site has the most bigshots ive seen in one place and you should have a say.
Ive done a thread on numbering convention, but it hasn't gotten any feedback, but they're s very few people in my situation to give feedback so no harm no foul. Now i need naming convention. Ill just keep spamming till i get something that works or input from other people starts. I figure if we all chip in and hack up a flowchart maybe it will help others..maybe it wont idk.

I get tired of chasing Labels.

Also the description of many strains looks like a form of Higher Math.

If you name all the parents & grandparents, it takes a big piece of paper. How do you fit that into a name ?

I think the main thing is that seeds be labelled accurately. Which basically means that if seeds are mixed, it's labelled as a mix.

Otherwise the main thing is to know if the seedlings are Indica or Sativa leaning. OF COURSE they will be fantastic seeds, if they have good parents.

Sometimes I label seed batches "Can't Remember #1", "Can't Remember #2", etc.

The only cross that was a disappointment for me was Bubble-gum x Grimm Ice Princess. I think I over-nuted the seedlings and none of them did good.

My mistake, I needed to switch to soil & go easy on the nutes.

Interesting approach...almost standardizing it like the few varietals of lettuce to chose from in the store...this is interesting.

Anything heavily worked might be impossible to include everything used.. I don't use names often anymore.. I've changed to project #s. I can post the genetics info 1x for those interested. The genetic info can be extensive after years of work.

I read somewhere about how we could classify every cannabis as either a citrus, berry, gassy...piney aromas and flavors, etc. I like that but not sure how to include it. I know everyone just names stuff whatever they want but times are changing. You can be a part of the conversation that helps others after we're dead...or be a ghost that said nothing...
