Hello all,

I'll be starting my 3rd grow soon, I wanted to start growing pure Mexican landraces, and trying to do open pollination projects.

I do have some Acapulco Gold seeds from the Mass Medical Strains preservation project, though I wanted to ask:

Can anyone recommend any good sources for other pure landrace Mexican seeds, that provide a clear headed, positive, yet "friendly" high? (Trying to avoid raciness or paranoia).

(I grow outdoors in Southern California, though the past few years I was living in Jalisco, Mexico, and have done some hiking in the mountains around Colima and Michoacan, and have visited Nayarit - I have a friend in the mountains of Jalisco that might have a place to grow, it would be cool to try to get some landraces back to those mountains. I do plan on going back there in the near future).

Wow...what'd ya grow er under?

Just a normal 600W HPS Bulb.

So, i've harvested the Double Oaxaca'79 at Day 91 12/12. Since it was only one Plant i trimmed her wet. The blown up calyxes from the Cannabiogen Oaxaca'79S1 coming through pretty good i would say. All in all the buds have a better density as both of the parents on their own. It was a bit cold over the last days/weeks, so some calyxes have a slightly purple hue. :)

Clear-headed positive and "friendly" sounds a lot like my experience with Primera Dama (first lady) from original delicatessen. It's had some discussion on here, it's an old school heirloom Mexican gifted by RC Clarke. Quite inbred, so it's got it's share of involved issues (discussion it may be one batch of seeds, see other threads on her), but it outcrosses very well, and has a great positive high, if a tad short lasting (although this can be fixed with an outcross to other lines). Shouldn't be that hard to locate, unlike other pure Mexican lines out there.

^^ Yeah, by '79 there were not a lot of landraces to speak of. Some, and even now, but so many were outcrossed to indicas. I do not think you can get that pure '79 Oaxaca unless someone gifts it to you.

I am waiting on 2020 Oaxaca right now, hehe. Likely not more indica influenced than the '79. Straight from Oaxaca.

I tried to sprout 4 of 5 seeds of Esko's Oaxaca ibl but was unlucky. Seems the line is very inbred, lacking vigor and the sprouts had not enough energy to develop strong taproots or first leaves.

On the other hand i had more luck with Delicatessen First Lady, after a very slow sprouting they developed some mutations but are now recovering and showing normal leaf shape and growth. One got transplanted and is on the way to motherhood. I hoped to be able to grow them together with Pineapple's double oaxacans but they were way too slow to compete with fresh mexican f1 seeds by PP. So I he mexican project goes on but different to the initial plan.
Adaptation is a constant.

Cheers

I had good luck with Eskobar Oaxacan. I think his seeds were straight from the fields so inbred is unlikely. First Lady was inbred I think.

I am running some Oaxacan Melon and it looks like the Eskobar stuff. Lots of similar lines from over there. Looks crossed and is fast. The high is the thing though. Bodhi said he got trippy pot over in Oaxaca a few years ago. It is still there.

Looks like a pure sativa that was hybridized once but a few generations.
What was the high like
How did it grow
Where did you get the seeds

Yes, like we know from phylos the CBG Oaxaca'79 was once hybridized with a bit indica. But still a nice smoke, and strains like Mextiza which are using the CBG Oaxaca'79, are nice smoke as well as far as i can tell. :)

It's a nice friendly smoke with a great aroma and cool bud structure. Received a few Seeds from a Californian grower, seems to be the same stock dubi has grown and shown in the Oaxaca'79 Thread.

Anyway, i have a other pretty wild unhybridized looking Oaxacan line (Oaxacan 12 Fingers), very long flowering and wispy with not much resin. But thats something i'll try later, as far as i've read, it was even too long flowering for Charlie Garcias taste. I would do a fast first run with the 12 Fingers to reproduce her, then a second run to look for keepers. Hawaiian Sativa would be a cool crossing partner for the Oaxacan 12 Fingers i guess, could be a real heavy yielder....
