The Mexican Cartel Thread - Anyone As Interested in Whats Going On Down There as Me?!

this is indeed an interesting topic. I read the DOJ National Drug Intelligence Center's National Drug Threat Assessment for 2011, worth checking out. Did you know that they are starting to use ultra-light aircraft to get stuff across? 91% of marijuana interdiction is people who cross the border on foot (mules) So much is let through. Motaco, I believe you are in Louisiana, nice mexican there for a great price, wish it made it up to Tn in that shape for that money.

Human intelligence is risky business. Tech tactics are mitigated by counter tactics. Drones helped change the course of Afghan counter-insurgency. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we're watching drug lords the same way we watch Afghan, Yemeni, and Paki war lords.

Was it just me, or did the mainstream media try to connect mexican cartel members with Iranians in an assassination attempt on the Saudi ambassador?

I notice that story was dropped like a hot potato.

We the public will buy alot.

But did they really think that we would buy that story?

This was in my back yard. Shit is crazy here. Nothing new though. People are just starting to see whats been going on forever down here.

Great thread. Very interesting read. I'm going to pass on watching people get butchered on youtube though. My opinion is that the chaos and killing in Mexico are a direct product of USA drug policy.
The war on drugs can be won by simply legalising them. It's the old parable of the sun and the wind all over again.
The part of me that likes to rubberneck at car crashes wants to watch the carnage in places like Mexico and see how this 'war on drugs' plays out. Every other part is reviled and disgusted by what is being allowed to happen so that politicians North of the border can win votes from the easily led.

The war on drugs will I'm positive be revealed to be a huge failure (disaster?) historically. The idea you can stop the drugs trade by killing some cartel leaders. If it was not so sad it would be laughable.

Did you know that some people still smoke mexican brick stress? I can't believe people can make any $ smuggling that shit. Smoking that stress might make me pretty violent though. If we could just legalize and have some sort of quality control, these shitheads would be out of business.

the more states that allow marijuana =less money to the cartel... they wouldn't do so well on crystal, coke and meth only

I don't know about that fact that if we take away weed the cartels would be hurting. There main source of money has always been weed. But they have adapted and now crystal meth and coke has been a key thing for them to get there riches up.

I mean what they are shipping bales across the border I mean thy can't be charging more than 200 dollars a pound for it. I mean u can go to any U.S border town and buy a pound a weed for like 400 bucks.

There is money in weed for them but IMO Over the recent years of states getting medical I am seeing less swag anymore and more local weed than ever. I mean even though the prices still need to drop Some on the U.S market of home grown weed.

The cartels I would think right now main source of money is in the meth and coke trade. It's a lot easier to transport and it isn't so bulky to try to get across the border and it fetches more profit then there brick weed does I would think.

From what I gather, the U.S. helped Mexico with some wire taps on the telephones. I didn't know drones could do that. Is there any tie between the stuff in Mexico and the NSA, Military intellegence or some like groups?
