A long overdue smoke report on a strain I had great expectations for.
Took my time, let it cure for a good 8 weeks. Which was a good idea, cure changed things a lot.
Strain: California Orange
Breeder: Nirvana
Grow Environment: Micro setup with 78w of cfl's. Link to grow log: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=4837090
Soil/Nutes: 2 gallon pot with MG Organic Garden soil. Bone meal(6-9-0) and dolomite added. Molasses/bone meal tea used for feeding.
Yield: So so, not a large yield, about a 2/3 oz. But micro growers are used to smaller grows. Did not yield as well as some other strains I've grown in same setup.
Appearance: Very much an indica looking plant. Finished at around 24 inches tall. Superbly resinous buds with a nice light green color. Easily the prettiest buds I've grown. 9/10
Smell: Smelled of skunk during veg. Bit of a stinker. Interestingly, the smell went down during flower.
It took a good time curing to get the proper odor, and it was citrus, just not the citrus I was expecting.
Grapefruit, and a very nice grapefruit. I'd call it a sweet pink grapefruit. Never smelled better(yet). 10/10
Taste: Here is where the cure really made the difference. After 2 weeks of curing, it was not a good flavor. Not bad, but certainly nothing to brag about. But give it that extra time and the grapefruit odor worked its way into the taste. Not an intense flavor, but no complaints. 8/10
High: I mentioned I had great expectations. I have anxiety issues, and this strain was probably my most researched strain I've grown. My thanks to those who have posted. Don't want to omit anyone, so just a shout out to all who have posted on the Cali-O. And the results were dead on with other experiences posted. It is not the strongest strain. But it is very definitely worth a try for anxiety sufferers. A gentle lift, and a nice feeling. It is exactly as described, an Indica plant that feels much more like a sativa. Not a racy sativa, but quite usable for the daytime. I'll call it a 9/10 for anxiety issues. Maybe not so much for rec users, but worth a try if you have spare space. Sadly, strain has been discontinued by Nirvana, but the genetics seem to be available else where.
Overall: A good choice if you want a compact Indica that gives something other than the usual Indica knock down.
