Coastal Seeds Burmese IBL Repro

No, the smell is prevalent throughout, even stem rubs are indicative. I will say that in the s2 gen something happened in selection that amplified the terpenes

I compare the smell to citric wet naps from a wings joint with sour candy. Medical citrus with a sharp sweetness if that translates at all. It has a diesel level penetrating smell
Thanks for the follow up. I smell the citrus but it's somewhat faint. I noticed that the earlier flowering ones have a stronger smell when rubbed, than the later ones. The tallest of the eight has peaked my interest the most. It has the lightest smell, the lowest nitrogen requirement, and a spear shaped top. Hopefully the high will be up and energetic/euphoric.

That was my experience with VISC Burmese. The first time I grew it indoors. My room was more than 100 yards from the roadway, and I worried people might smell it from there while driving by.

Wow that is strong smelling. It makes me wonder if the VISC Burmese is the same as Coastal's. Based on the phenotypes, it looks like an IBL. I wonder if as it migrated from Referman to Bohdi to Coastal, the strong smell was selected against. I'm actually glad there isn't much smell, but hope the Sativa high on an Indica frame is retained. Fingers crossed. If it comes out like I hope, I'll likely cross it to my Swazi IBL at some point.

It doesnt really look burmese at all, perhaps crossed out?
Per Referman, it's a central Highland WLD, related to Chinese indica. Based on other reports, it's a Sativa high on an indica frame. Based on the lack of significant phenotypic diversity in 14 plants (6 males), its definitely an inbred line. Hopefully the smoke matches the description.

Final harvest tomorrow. Harvested the 2 smallest on Saturday. About 75% of the seeds should be viable. Plants hardly had any smell when growing (even at the end of flowering). What's interesting though, is that the buds started to smell strong when extracting the seeds. Smell is not gassy or skunky, but more like a rotting fruit. Hoping the high is as described.

Burmese smoke report:

Background:
The earliest of the 2 fully seeded plants were sampled. These were harvested Saturday evening and sampled late afternoon on Wednesday. They were quick dried sitting several feet across from a heater. Seeds were squeezed out as the plants were drying, so a fair amount of resin ended up on my fingers. Unfortunately I have always had the bad habit of squeezing seeds out when I see the calyxes crack, when in reality you can let it dry for a couple of more days and many seed will fall out with a shake or gentle rub.

Smoke report:

The buds (more like pressed calyxes and small leaves) were rolled in a joint and I took 3 hits. As described before, the smell was more a rotting (fermenting) fruit. Considering how poorly handled and quick dried the product was, it was surprisingly smooth. It took several minutes for the effects to come on. The high in the beginning is mostly in the head, with a little body relaxation. The head high was very introspective. It felt like thoughts and trips down memory lane were rushing into my head, and it was difficult to juggle between everything in the beginning. As time went on and the high settled and it was easier to focus and thoughts started becoming more animated. In that sense, I would consider it lightly hallucinagenic. This wasn't the strong euphoria or hillarious animation I've felt with good mushrooms or even the northwestern Thai I sampled 25 years, but a milder yet very enjoyable version. There was also no sense of paranoia. Even though, there was a body high, it wasn't sedative. One of my criteria for me keeping a strain has always been that it doesn't slow down/demotivate physical activity. I went for a walk the first hour and had no issue with tiredness or motivation. It didn't increase motivation to speed up either. If felt more like I was multitasking between focusing on the walking and animation going on in my head. I was also able to stay on task and trim the rest the plants when I came back. The high remained steady for 2.5 hours or so and slowly faded away. There was also no morning hangover. Overall I enjoyed the quality of the high and will definitely keep this strain. I actually enjoyed it more than my recently grown Burmese-Malawi cross because it lacked that deer in the headlights (mental freeze frame) feeling. As mentioned before , I think it has alot of potential in future crosses with pure sativas. Being that it's an inbred line, has manageable structure, lacks the narcotic effects, and has a unique enjoyable high, it could make some promising crosses. Looking forward to trying a better handled longer cured sample in a couple months.
