usually when soil is super dry....you pour a little in the pot and wait an hour or so to do the rest because the soil doesnt hold the water when bone dry.......everything just comes out the bottom of the pot with the quickness.

Yeah, if the soil is too dry water will run through it before getting absorbed so you need to water a little and let that soak in before the soil will accept more water. Soil can be a huge PITA if it is dried out too much in storage...
I've also never worried about burning them when watering. One of my friends just dumps all the nutes in one of the three barrels he uses to water and gives them plain water-nutes-plain water. I divide the nutes equally between my watering barrels. I don't think it makes any difference at all.

I usually take it between 62-65 days. It's gonna look done at 6 weeks though, without a loop. My SFV looks VERY similar to the Skywalker. You can tell they are different, but not by too much.
