You gave him the seeds & he bred them. From what I understand a variety is a seed line, be it landrace or a man in field or lab . Cultivars are clones. If you register a plant it's a cultivar, a seed line it is a variety there are no Cannabis 'strains' per say.. You may not have given him varieties or 'seed lines' but it was no bother to a breeder to fix & make use of genetic material passed on regardless of it arising from random or non random propagation..
