My New Year’s resolution just arrived; will finally dive into the Haze hybrids. Doing a run with these from a Canadian peer. Much love

wasn't grapefruit said to be found in a tray of a5 haze mistaken as something else? or am i getting it mixed up with sweet skunk?
anyway, the stuff is house picked and they left a bunch of sugary leafy bits which i enjoy actually.
smells like... herbs? i dunno, i'm not always super good at describing smells, but i think i smell terpinolene and ocimene even though they don't seem to be present on the test results (might be there in trace #s, or i dunno)... i definitely smell the caryophyllene, humulene and for sure the myrcene which is the highest terp and the highest % of myrcene on any flower iirc that i've bought. i usually avoid the stuff (makes me sneeze and such... might be kinda allergic), but i really wanted to try this cross.
{side note on the myrcene, i hate when the budtenders (sales-ppl) say these absolutes ("mYrCEne iS ThE iNDIca teRp" and go on about how it is the direct cause of couchlock, and other sales pitch bullshit that is morally wrong and obviously wrong to anyone who pays attention to the terp results... my favorite indicas have very low to moderate myrcene and [foreshadowing] some sativas and sativa- leaners like this hybrid have STUPID high myrcene levels above other terps).}
so anyway, 1% myrcene (which did make me cough and wheeze more than normal, but not sneeze like if it was a vape with a lotta myrcene), and it was NOT couchlock at all, surprise surprise.
the reviews indicate that this would potentially be an uplifting daytime strain with both antidepression and anti-anxiety properties, and actually i agree that this is the case. it's VERY uplifting. and although my physical anxiety symptoms aren't abated by the extra energy of this cross, i do feel my mental/ emotional anxiety symptoms are GREATLY improved.
i'm loopy on it, so idk about first thing in the morning with shit to do, or a dangerous hike that requires utmost attention, but i do wanna try out a few skate tricks the next time i smoke. i bet the extra magic would help me land stuff i'm working on.
outside, i was just peering at everything and the colors were super vibrant. not quite cartoon/ painting vision like i've had from some sativas and especially ace's malawi stuff i've had, like golden tiger, but something was happening visually.
i was scatterbrained up in the clouds, even kinda trippy in that "i can't stop smiling way", and talking to my neighbor reminded me of talking to a cop while on acid.
and after like 2 hours i actually had to smoke my normal indica/ hybrid stuff to bring myself back down to earth and get some shit done today.
and the gf haze STILL cut through, i was positively flying. for hours.
i never felt the tiredness of the indica crosses, but i was instead uplifted and even zippy through it all.
i smoked a few more times (the indy hybrids and the haze hybrid), later had a cup of coffee, and only now, 12 hours later after the initial wake n bake do i feel that tiredness that comes from over-using the ole noggin.
wanted to get this post done before my brain shuts down.

Here is a haze hybrid i made a while back ,
id kinda forgotten about it since the seed was immature for some reason ,
and down the bottom of a container hidden a bit ,
but i expect it will produce some good herb given the lineage ,
chem/sssdh x mango haze ..

This sounds like a great experience, it's always satisfying to find a cross with the desired high. I love the high of certain sat/ind hybrids because they have the perfect balance between energy and mind soothing.
That's an interesting pedigree, curious about the outcome of this cross, some could be very strong lemon goodness.
That's what they look like now or it is old pics? I know you're down under with reverse seasons so maybe the pic is recent? Anyway they look great and should provide some great buds.

Terpinolene - rusty apple hospital cypress
Myrcene - cheap grape lollipop
Humulene - musky cedar
I have never smelled any of these on Marijuana, unless it was sprayed. These terpenes everyone has been told to talk about are WEAK and have nothing to do with weed. Linalool for example. Smells like lavender, but you go smell blind to instantly. I don't go smell blind to lavender weed though. So why is linalool considered the lavender weed terp instead of linalyl acetate or whatever actually gives lavender weed it's smell?
So, tell us what these terpenes smell like to people who can't smell, yet claim they can smell terpenes that no one can smell in weed (because they have nothing to do with weed aroma flavor or activity)
i actually completely agree with this description and yet am surprised you don't find the smell in weed... the humulene smell is almost identical to caryophyllene (bcp might be a TAD more on the cedary side whereas humulene is more the plain and woody side of the same unique and deeply enticing smell)
and i always smell that smell in weed... especially things related to chemD. it's in there, masked under the skunky ass and that distinct penny/ blood smell (i'm guessing oxidized stuff, maaaayyyybe caryophyllene oxide but that's a guess cause i need to smell that in its pure form first) which carries some of those same sensual notes as caryophyllene/ humulene.
the problem, imo, is that smell is so subtle. for example caryophyllene in black pepper (btw, another name for humulene is alpha- caryophyllene as opposed to beta- caryophyllene which is also just called caryophyllene)...
smell some black pepper (better yet, grains of paradise), look past the pungency (the pungency/ spiciness is thought to be largely the piperine) to the woodiness... the herbal, flowery, almost incensy background (to my nose) is largely due to caryophyllene.
but you wouldn't know it's there unless you know what to look for.
interesting you bring up linalo-ol, i think it smells almost identical to myrcene. i think they both smell like some clear plastic deep in my memory (i think it might be this scuba mask smell/ taste all in my brain), except the linalo-ol has a flowery thing that IS reminscent of lavendar... i just think there's a lot more going on with lavendar and different cultivars, etc.
man, i definitely was in a haze all day and night. i think i still kinda feel the grapefruit haze effect, and i've only smoked star91 today and not any gf haze at all since yesterday afternoon, iirc.
i used to think it was just a fun rhyme, but pretty sure i finally understand this mf doom verse:
and miss hazy, older woman, mature, black;
every time she sees me, I end up gettin' towed back;
all she want me to do is blaze it crazy,
The only one complaint is that she make me too lazy.
i can't imagine getting a deadly nevil's haze pheno and trying to blaze it all day, i think i might bleed from the eyeballs in a pile of my own duties

Looking great! Miss my old c99 pineapple pheno, great smoke. Smoke too much, it would give me the shakes..
