Hi guys, long time lurker poking my head out my mole hole. Feel like I kinda know most of you already from the countless hours reading through various threads such as this. All I can say is much respect, you guys represent the real heart and soul of cannabis culture. The passion for the plant we share is plain to see.

Unlike 99% of my generation, I've realized there is more to cannabis than cookies, zkittles, runtz, and indica hybrids in general.
Many years ago on vacation in Vancouver, BC, by pure chance my naive young self decided I'd try some Super Silver Haze from one of the pot shops in the city. I barely knew what it was, maybe heard the name online one time and it was one of the few strains on their menu I slightly-recognized. The staff at the shop offered no insights and I didn't ask! The 'store-bought cannabis' experience didn't exist in my home country. I was just happy to be buying weed without legal worries, not much thought went into product selection.

Really had no idea what I was in for with the SSH, and lets just say it was a happy accident.
I had smoked a decent amount of cannabis up to this point, but I was not growing at this time, and the black market access I had would never yield anything remotely hazey or properly sativa.
The market was drowned in commercial 8-9 week indica dom big bud type strains that they would still pull early. Most of the market was outdoor crops and the climate is not very suited to sativas, so outside of home/personal growers, at least in my era and in my circles, a good sativa was practically unheard of.

I had a friend with me on the vacation who didn't smoke, so on our way back from dinner I lit up a joint of the SSH and enjoyed it all to myself. The smell and taste didn't leave an imprint in my memory, but I paid less attention to these things back then, only total standouts stuck with me. I was just trying to get high.
As I smoked the joint, it seemed like any other joint to begin with, but shortly after finishing it and walking back to our hotel it really hit me.

I was taken on a wonderful, euphoric, soaring ride, that totally caught me off guard, in a good way! It was potent! Almost was a bit psychedelic and also reminiscent of MDMA. Unlike my experience with your typical psychedelics like LSD and mushrooms, this was so warm, gentle, and positive, without a care in the world, and the 'body load' I always hated on typical psychs was replaced with pure euphoria and waves of electricity pulsing through my body. You couldn't wipe the big goofy grin off my face if you tried.

After getting back to our room, we decided to go swimming in the hotel pool, and I've never had such fun swimming in all my life! All I was doing was mucking about in a rather mediocre hotel pool, but the water felt amazing on my skin and it was a joyous experience. To me, it felt more 'genuine and real' than say MDMA induced happiness/euphoria, even though clearly drug induced. Sex was unbelievably good too.

To say the experience left a mark on me would be an understatement.
Many years later, some serious health issues led me first down the pharmaceutical route (no thanks), and now down the plant medicine route. I've been honing in my greenthumb, as I've realized a good chunk of therapeutic potential is in growing the damn plant! Not just consuming it.
Since the Vancouver SSH, nothing close came across my radar, but now I'm much more involved and passionate about cannabis than ever, I'm taking matters into my own hands!

Starting my hunt with; Dutch Dog from Connoisseur Genetics.
On the mother's side we have a 'wild' Nevil Haze x Mango Haze from old Mr Nice packs via @l33t, crossed with Soma's G13 Haze Male.
On the Father's side, we have a SSH x Chem D (SSCDH) from old Reservoir Seeds stock.

Have two girls here at day 46 of flower, grown in water only organic soil (30L pots) and a 480w LED.
#1 smells woody and beginning to get spicy. #2 is full on fruity, sweet green mango and papaya.

Please excuse the dirty little indica dom hybrid sneaking its way into the shot ;)
Welcome to the Haze/Sativa family, you can't beat a good Haze/Sativa for exotic taste/Highs.

Looking great 👌

One correction is the Nevil Mango I used for this x was not the L33t version I'm running now , was a pheno I grew/selected from Mr nice seeds years back when making the Nevil The G strain ( Nevil Mango pheno, Mr nice seeds x Soma's G13 Haze male).
Then a pheno of the Nevil The G strain was hit with the Super Silver Chemdog Haze Male to make the Dutch dog.

Thanks OJD, good to be here!
I'll go edit and correct the info in my original post, my mistake.

Well that's a pretty thang. Those golden stigmas are pretty eye catching. The NH/C5M I grew from last seed showed some definite WLD influence. Some early tests proved pretty rough stuff, so have resolved for a few months cure time before next try. (With the drought this year I got rat attacks on the stems which very nearly ring barked them. Maybe that affected them some?). The C5/Mango was much more to my taste. Pretty good right out of the gate. Tasted decent too... and more trichome development as well. (I dropped some C5/Mango pollen on the NH/C5Mango... which is all I had to work with). But the C5/M didn't quite look as appealing at finish to what you posted here. Mind you, your live plant pics look familiar enough. Yet to find any mango terps in anything. Do you get it? In the vape I get mostly woody, leathery and herbal notes.

Dropped a few pics. The Z99 grew some lovely colas and tasted great right out of the gate. Very agreeable herbal notes that might speak of some linalool? Little compressed from being in my access bag. The C5/Man was more sat like with those smaller airy buds. Look carefully you'll spot a random seed in the top bud. Pollen is pretty motile, so that one got away. At least I know who the daddy is!

yea , id have to admit ,
the guy i did the seed with , who rushed and sorted before i m a little concerned
by the larger sample i grew recently ,
that some laos mango x c5 mango , have been mixed with the nh x c5 mango,

of course i have to take the fact that some nevils haze is long flowering ,
but the girl i used wasnt so much ,
i had more than 6 weeks diff in the 25 girls i grew ,
which i think its not right , a few weeks , sure , but 6 , wtf , hahaha ,,,
plus the look , the high , the calyxes ,, yea ,, i could be wrong ,
it wouldnt be the first time , haha , but there isa chance ,
anyhow ill grow a big sample of the laos mango next season to take a look ,
small samples dont really give one a great idea of things ...

mango , well i did have a mango haze ibl that was mango smelling ,
but honestly ,, in all the mh i grew , which is many over the years ,
i hve a bunch of different smells , and not many were mango ,
a lot of incense which folks tend to search for , so theres that for the ones who do ,
but ripe mango , not many , the last girl i showed pictures of above did have mango notes about her ..
ideally , in all my years of growing sativa , it was the unripe mango smelling girls who did the deed for me , and i think its from thai stuff ...

z99 , looks great , and shes a good girl , im glad u liked her , she if one of those its hard not to go back for more on ...
