I know ive seen it in here before, but cant find it right now. Need the name of place ic Chico that does solid testing. Normally send mine back east to a friend I grew up with and who works the Ag dept at a state school... he's always spot on but because its a "bro favor" I don't have time to wait for him to do it when he can fit it in with his regular schedule. I've got three beds that are all sorts of f***** up right now. sharing what I thought was a classic magnesium deficiency but upon treating foliar and root drench still hasn't changed, no visible signs of disease or root rot, pH about 6.3, and all other levels that I've been able to test on my own including brix come out relatively normal... really stumped. all three are super sour diesel with 1 being absolute worst and probably going to have to be culled, other two aren't far behind if something doesn't change quick. The funny thing is I have two other super sour diesel on the same row that are a picture of absolute health. I'll get some pictures up later tonight or in the morning but the name of that lab now would be great. thanks ICmag big plant warriors.

Logan Labs is highly recommended. Get a "complete test" which will include a standard soil test, a saturated paste test, and it will give you nitrogen too. It costs $55.00 for the complete test. Loganlabs.com Without the saturated paste test, a standard soil test is basically worthless at this point in the game. The saturated paste test will tell you what is available to the plants right now, and will show lockups, etc. Best of luck.

heres the thing man, i know tons of growers who kind of do this same shit, my crew included. and for the most parts the results come back pretty good, LBs come down, bills get paid, new toys get bought….but in order to be a better grower we need to be put through the trials and tribulations of farming. to be a better grower in 2015, 2020, or even 2030 down the line, the grow gods are giving my crew a crash course in how fast things can go from green to yellow, and good to bad.
I've learned more in the past week than i have all summer in regards to farming and proper nutrient uptake/balance, etc….i can't be mad at my plants for yellowing i can only be mad at myself for not doing the proper testing, ph checks, and the million other things a good crop manager takes into account. "absent minded august" will be a harsh lesson for us this year that i will take into 2015 with a vengeance.
When this CA outdoor AG gets really serious, the guys who just sprayed and prayed and never cared to learn about proper plant nutrition and maintenance will be shit out of luck. All we can do at this point is learn learn learn and it takes more than just reading a book, takes losing plants to wilt, seeing leaves go yellow in two days, losing 10-20% of your crop to wake your ass up and make you get serious about farming.
just my little rant today….because my crew is stretched thin and we work tirelessly out there and still see problems popping up. we have had the whole entire book of farm disease/pest/deficiency thrown at us in the last two weeks…so its pretty frustrating, but 10-20% crop loss on a crop that is 200% bigger than last years isn't too bad. I've spoke to many people on here via PM who are also having issues pop up here and there, for farming its part of the game. but i got faith that all of us will power through and be better farmers in the future because of it. keep up the faith, and get back to work!!
also FGL is taking FOREVER to get my soil test results back…its been 7 days at this point.
is there a quicker place, where i can express a sample monday, have it to them by tuesday, and have results back by friday? even logan labs was saying 5 days from soil sample arriving.

Logan Labs was 3-4 days for me. They also accept extra money to get it done that day. Express shipping and extra payment and you can get your tests in 3 days.

We had a big branch on the StrawberryDogshit get pulled down by a coon and the bark split up the branch at the knuckle upwards about 4 inches, exposing the green inner stem.
Im not sure what to do other than I tied the branch up securely. The bark is peeled away from the main stem inside so I hope it creates a new skin/bark and doesnt get rot or a worm making its home in there.
Its an open invitation to all kinds of nasties.
Anything I can do to protect it/cover it without using ducttape or anything that will turn it into wet mush?

ODW, this is what I've always used. http://www.waltereclark.com/wprod1.htm I've sealed large main stem cracks before with it, and when the plant heals up and grows the stuff will crack off and fall away like an old cast.

Sometimes the level of incompotency I deal with when making inquiries at so-called "grow stores" or "AG-center/mart/whatever". I live in Butte, and therefore end up frequenting a few of the places whose name get tossed around from this region of the North State. EWSG, Ag-Mirt, Greenfire (EJ's old "storefront"), etc...
With the exception of Dave at EWSF it seems to be few and far between that I'm actually enlightened by any of these places employees... I mean, if I pick-up a few truck loads of dirt from Dave, and I'm lucky enough to be there when he's around and has a minute to chat, then I normally get "learned" something from the guru of worms... but I feel like 99% of the time I go in these other places I have to give a mini-lesson on the who/what/when/where when I make an inquiry about some product they've "neeeeeeeeeeeever even heard of, bro".

While I await the soil test results of which I just sent off today, I decided I'd go ahead and replace some of my field testing equipment that's getting up there is use/age. Grabbed a new pH-meter for liquid and a soil probe, plus a gang of the color-coded rapid capsule tests to give me a vague idea of what might be happening down there... Well, I decided to grab a new refracto and I called 3 different plces around town, where I kept getting the same, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? Huh? What's that?"
Finally dawned on me to call a home brew shop and damn if BOTH that I called didn't carry multiple brands. On my way there now. A fucking brew shop.
I'm getting close to breaking away from hydro-shops 100%, but still have to source a few things here and there. I just don't feel like (except with rare occasion) that I get such a screaming discount from some of these places that it's worth putting up with the headache of their idiocy. I feel like there should be a support group for recovering hydro store junkies who through years of dependence are finally breaking their shackles of AN, Botanicare and GH slavery and coming back home to the loamy, native soils of yesteryear created by tilling it up and dumping good old composted animal shit and leaf mold back into it. Ahhhhhhhhh....

The hydro-stores are there to suck up money - they're mostly uneducated. Think of the sort of folks that gravitate to employment there too. Usually nice dudes, but usually stoned out of their minds and rarely in my experience decent growers. You're better off chumming up with the local AG supply store.

I saw a full kit of those nutrient meters on a video teaching about plant sap analysis. It was pretty cool how the dude was taking samples and analyzing in the field. I don't see the full line offered from them though. I wonder how accurate those meters are and if they can replace the services being offered by novacrop. Looking at those prices I'd imagine you need to really put them to use to have it pay off.
That kit did look bad ass though.
